Zoe Matthews is a romance author who began writing as a young teenager and never lost passion throughout her life. Some of her works include the Orphan Train and Mail Order Bride Time Travel series. She likes taking photos of desert landscapes, watercolors, and her grandchildren.

An Unexpected Family
This is the debut novel in Orphan Train based on children from Aid Society, a New York orphanage traveling on an orphan train to Texas. At the beginning of the story, we meet Amanda, who has been doing a seamstress business since the death of her husband David two years ago in an accident.

She is a strong and respectful lady who understands herself, and due to the inheritance from her late husband, she is a financially stable life and views it as a blessing. Apart from being strong, she also has a caring side and is very much concerned about the attention of Craig Parker.

Craig Parker, a farmer and a widower has asked Amanda Drake to give him a hand in marriage for several months. Amanda is yet to give in to his request and has turned him down on every trial.

Later they hear the news that a train with orphans is heading to their hometown, Texas. The children were abandoned in the city and needed loving and caring families. Amanda decides to adopt a young girl since she has the money, love, and time to care for her. In her marriage, she never bore any child, and now that she is lonely after the death of her husband, adopting a child would be a great idea.

Will Amanda be allowed to adopt a child, considering that she is a single lady? However, she realizes that she is not the only single parent willing to adopt as Craig is also looking to offer a home to one child. The two want to adopt one child each and take care of them as single parents. At first, Amanda thinks that Craig is only looking for free labor but later learns that his intentions are pure. They go to meet the Town Council, and both are given the go-ahead with the adoption.

Life becomes complicated as Amanda has to decide what may affect her future life and her physically challenged daughter. Is marrying Craig for convenience the best decision, or should she live her life and raise her daughter independently?

Grace and Jeremy are siblings and the children adopted by Amanda and Craig. Their parents died when a wagon fell, leaving the children wounded. Grace was found under the wagon and injured her leg while Jeremy had a deep cut on his head, losing consciousness.

Even though someone saved them, the doctors didn’t treat them right. The story is set in the small town of Maple Grove in Texas. It is full of love built between two kids and between Amanda and Craig. The book is full of charm and intriguing and excellent characters that will keep you hooked.

Touched by Time
This is the first book in Mail Order Bride Time Travel Romances. The books introduce Kimberly Nelson, a trauma nurse in a Denver hospital. She is good at her work when allowed to do it even though she is not on good terms with her boss. Her parents died in a tragic accident when she was a teenager, and she was left with no relatives to look after her. She was placed in a foster home and was lucky to be accepted by a caring family.
She hates her job because she has never had a good relationship with her supervisor in the emergency department. For some unknown reason to Kimberly, the supervisor continued criticizing her while seeing her useless.

The supervisor gives Kimberly a lot of work where some of the allocated duties are far from a registered nurse’s. On some occasions, she would be forced to work on her days off without compensation, making Kimberly think of resigning.

While reading through a newspaper, the Denver Rocky Mountain Gazette, she comes across an advertisement that she becomes interested in. It’s a photo of a lady dressed like one from the nineteenth century, which read, ‘mail order brides wanted’

This ad got Kimberly’s attention, and she realized that only mail addresses are provided with no telephone number or email. At first, she thinks that it’s a scam, but she still cuts the ad and puts it in her phone case despite her thoughts.

She keeps thinking of the ad until she decides to visit the address and ask about its validity. She soon finds out that the address provided belongs to the Victorian house and pays a visit there. She is welcomed at the door by a tall and stately gentleman who reminds her of how a traditional English butler walks, dresses, and sounds. Kimberly is lead to the study room to meet Mrs. Victoria Hilton, where she confirms that she sent a mail order to the bride business.
Mrs. Victoria is a widow looking for ways to get busy while helping others that’s why she started a mail order bride business. Additionally, she lived in 1892. With some help, Kimberly fills an application, and she is later informed that her proposed mate is in Denver, but to meet him, she has to accept to go back in time 1892. This is the start of a time travel adventure that will automatically capture the reader’s imagination. Will she accept to adjust her life to that time to be with her lover and leave her friends? Will Patrick, her match, help her adjust to his time?

The reader will be transported to the places where work is challenging, emotions run deep, and travel is slow. It is a fun romance story with interesting characters that will keep the reader engaged. The plotline is appealing, and the author uses an easy writing style.
