Wayne Stinnett is one of the well known authors of America, who is famous for writing his novels based on the mystery and fiction genres. He is particularly popular for writing down the Jesse McDermitt series. Stinnett was born and brought up in a small town known as Eau Gallie, located on the central east coast Florida, United States. He used to often get involved in exploring the beaches there along with his brothers. He would also visit the Indian River Lagoon, the St. John River swamps, as well as the creeks and streams that flow in both the rivers. Occasionally, Stinnett used to explore on foot apart from being on board a sailboat, Jon-boat, or a canoe. When he reached the age of 16, Stinnett began exploring other places located outside his hometown. Later, he was able to find the chain of long islands, located at the southernmost tip of the city of Florida, which are commonly known as ‘The Keys’. The year was 1974 when author Stinnett explored the islands and it was an awesome experience for him at that time. He went on to graduate from high school in the year 1977, after which he enlisted himself in the Marine Corps. This decision allowed him to have a number of other exploration opportunities. Being a marine, Stinnett visited a number of countries of the northern Europe up to the Far East, and later returned to Florida after four years.

Post his return from Marine Corps, author Stinnett used to spend most of his free time in sailing, scuba diving, fishing, and surfing. Slowly, he even began trying his hand at writing stories during the early 1980s. Stinnett had also made a list of all the extensive beach dive spots near his hometown, along with exploring a number of shipwrecks near the Treasure Coast. In the meantime, he got married two times and both them ended up as failures. After that, he purchased a sailboat and began living aboard it in the Boot Key Harbor, in The Keys of Florida. In addition to that, author Stinnett also lived on the island of Andros in the Bahamas as well as on the Isla de Cozumel, located in Mexico for several short periods. He used to earn his living by working as a Divemaster at that time. As of today, author Stinnett lives near the Blue Ridge Mountains, in a small town called as Travelers Rest. The next phase of his life was working as a truck driver for a period of 12 years. During this time, he also kept writing his stories in his truck’s back. The first novel published by author Stinnett was in the year 2013, which was based entirely on the short stories that he used to write during the 1980s.

Stinnett entered into his third marriage in the year 2001, from which he has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. His family also consists of 3 dogs and a flock of parakeets. Author Stinnett has a large garden in the backyard of his house, in which he grows his own varieties of foods. As of today, Wayne Stinnett makes several visits to Florida every year, and mostly gets in touch with his home city through his writings and imaginations. Almost all the books written by author Stinnett are set in the Keys and many of them feature the main protagonist in the form of a retired marine named Jesse McDermitt, who is described by Stinnett as the Captain of a charter boat. Jesse lives in one of the deserted islands located to the north of the Big Pine Key and likes to explore, fish, dive in the backcountry of the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida Bay. But, Jesse often gets involved in different kinds of troubles in his life.

The Jesse McDermitt series written by author Wayne Stinnett consists of a total of 4 novels and 1 novella published between the years 2013 and 2014. The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘Fallen Palm’. It was released in the year 2013 as a Kindle edition. In the opening sequence of the plot of this novel, Jesse McDermitt is depicted as living a lonely life in one of the isolated islands of the Florida Keys and running a charter business of fishing. He is depicted as having retired from the Marine Corps for around 6 years and wishes about nothing more in his life than to dive, fish, relax, and enjoy the remaining days of his life on the islands. One of his old friends and a former Platoon Sergeant named Russ encounters a mysterious accident while scuba diving and dies unexpectedly. McDermitt becomes upset and suspicious about the death of his friend. When Russ’s son approaches him to take him to a far away reef for the spreading the ashes of his father, both of them come to know that Russ was actually murdered. Therefore, they begin their hunt to catch the psychotic killer, not knowing that their search will take them to a terrorist cell in the Caribbean. In the meantime, a beautiful woman comes to the Keys in her own manhunt, which distracts Jesse. But, he does not seem to stop taking his revenge because of several high speed chases on boats and coming across the deadly killers. Soon, Jesse survives a hurricane after which he gets recruited by a government agency for a secret operation. But, he seems more interested in catching his friend’s killer by waiting patiently for his next move.

The second novel of the Jesse McDermitt series was published under the title ‘Fallen Hunter’. It was released in the year 2013 as a Kindle edition. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, it is shown that Jesse grieves for the lost of one of his better half to the terrorists. He begins to keep himself busy in his island home with a number of mundane tasks. Soon, he gets approached by one of his friends who begs him to help her father, who is pressurized to carry out smuggling of drugs. After investigation, Jesse comes to know that the smuggler works as an arms dealer for the terrorist organization named Hezbollah, which was responsible for the death of his wife. Therefore, he decides to settle his score with the terrorists and engages himself in a series of boat chases throughout the island. The plot even reaches the nearby islands of Cuba, Cozumel, and Key West, and describes a suspenseful story.

Read most of your books, just finished Man Overboard. Wish I could get our local library to carry your books. I got them to buy 2, Man Overboard and Lost Charity. I’ll keep asking, maybe they will get more and then more readers will find out how enjoyable your books are. Congrats on making the New York Times bestseller list.
