Bad to the Bone is the first book in the fictional series. If you have been looking for an easy to read and interesting mystery that keeps going, then check out this debut crime mystery for yourself!
The setting is the forest, a lightly wooded area located in Cambridgeshire in Peterborough. When a body is found in skeletal form in this area, they call in the professionals. James Bliss is a Detective Inspector and one of the best in his field for the area.
He has teamed up with D.C. Penny Chandler to investigate this unique case. Once they start to take it on, the two of them find out that the female victim was moved from the original site where she was buried. The victim was young and it is unfortunate that this happened to her, but the place where the body was found was not where it started out.
As the two of them begin the process of speaking to witnesses, they find out that the young woman may have been killed due to a vehicular homicide. The year was 1990 and the season was allegedly summer, according to the witness. They say that the police were at the scene, but it appears that the accident or the victim of the event exists.
The case is definitely starting to pick up and the detectives are shocked when they find out that two more victims have been killed. They were retired cops and now the entire case is really a loose horse. The two end up being linked to other people that were on duty when the road accident got reported. Chandler and Bliss are going deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole– but will they be able to go through and come out the other side in one piece?
The detectives are certainly starting to wonder whether a cover up is going on. Could senior officers have been linked to murders of the same young lady that fell victim in the wooded area? It’s anyone’s guess. Each of the moving parts is capable of cutting them deeply, so they have to be careful about what they’re doing.
The stress, however, is starting to take its toll– on both of them. Bliss is starting to really feel the burn as he is clashing with not only the superiors above him but the media too. It’s all taking a downward spiral, but when it comes to this case, the pair are determined to solve it or die trying.
It’s all about justice, and doing their job or they get fired. But these two are working against the clock and in the face of repeated targeted warnings. The detective is unlikely to drop the case, but he’s considering whether he’s going to be able to catch those responsible.
He wants to keep his career, but will he walk away from it all so that he can work another day? Or is this one of those fights that you’re going to have to choose to take on all or nothing? The killer may be even closer to the team than they would have thought. They’re working as quickly as they can, but will their effort be enough for them to get through it? Or does the killer have more of a head start on them than they suspected? Read this crime thriller to find out for yourself!
The Scent of Guilt is the intriguing second story in the DI Bliss series! Check out the second novel in this series and find out what’s going on in a lighter mystery story that you will not want to miss.
Bliss and his partner Chandler are back in yet another interesting story and case. The mystery starts off with DI Bliss coming back to a city that he left 12 years ago. Now he’s come back to the major crimes team and the city, having spent the past years serving as police to organized crime. Now he’s being put into the center of an investigation into a serial murder.
He’s back in a big way, and wonders what happened to his old partner Penny. Chandler’s been promoted, taken all the way to DS. She’s been actively working on the sexual crimes team with the Met in London. She’s put on a new case when there are two alleged rapes in Peterborough.
Penny immediately volunteers and will interview the victims. She’s been joining the case and soon is trying to track down the individual responsible for the attacks. She soon finds out that there’s a link possibly between the murder investigation Bliss is heading and the rapes.
Penny’s wondering whether it’s the same person that’s responsible when it comes to both cases. Could there possibly be a link? There are a lot of things that seem to be similar. Cases are seeming to stall at the same time when an ex-policeman phones in a call.
He says that he knows of many different cases in America that share a similar motivation. Meanwhile, Bliss is trying to go to California, traveling there to track a killer that may have reached further out than any of them might realize.
Can Bliss figure out what the killer wants before it’s too late? When it comes to the past, it may have all the answers. Can Chandler and her former partner succeed? Read this story to find out!
