The Duffy Dombrowski Mysteries series written by author Tom Schreck is comprised of a total of 5 novels and 5 novellas released between 2007 and 2014. Each and every novel of this series features the lead protagonist in the role of Duffy Dombrowski. Duffy is depicted as a full-time social worker and part-time boxer. It was released by Midnight Ink in 2007. This book features the central characters as Duffy Dombrowski, Walanda, Al, and Shony. Initially, Duffy Dombrowski is introduced as not an average social worker. During the day time, he counsels drug users and sex addicts in a town located just outside New York City. At night, he likes to get ‘schlitzed’ with his drunkard friends and fight professional boxers in the ring. Whenever he gets time in between, Duffy Dombrowski likes to listen to the songs of Elvis Presley. Duffy keeps a perfect watch on the lowlifes and pimps around him so as to prevent them from doing any unsocial work. He seems to care for his clients and tries to keep them away from all sorts of harm.

A schizophrenic patient and drug-addict prostitute named Walanda gets murdered. When Duffy comes to know about her death, he feels sorry for her and pledges to look after her basset hound named Al. Duffy also promises to himself to find the missing stepdaughter of Walanda. Duffy’s investigation reveals that the teenage daughter of Walanda, named Shony, has been ensnared into a porn ring web. The organization responsible for this is known to enslave drug addict prostitutes and their kids. In his attempt to save Shony, Duffy puts his life and his job in danger. He comes in contact with a doctor having ties with extremists from Pakistan. He gives his everything in saving Shony and foiling the terrorist plot of the Pakistani extremists.

The second volume of this series is called ‘TKO’. It was also published by Midnight-Ink in 2008. This book opens by mentioning that a prison inmate named Howard Rheinhart gets discharged after completing his sentence of 25 years of imprisonment. He was charged with murdering two cheerleaders, a class president, and a quarterback. Duffy Dombrowski is given the charge of keeping a track of Howard Rheinhart’s activities and making sure that he doesn’t go on the same path that had resulted in his imprisonment 25 years ago. Soon after Howard’s release, highschool VIPs begin to turn up dead and there is no sign of Howard anywhere. Even though all the fingers point at Howard being the prime suspect of the brutal murders, Duffy thinks that he is innocent. He decides to defend him at any cost and find the real killer. Meanwhile, he juggles with several problems of his own that require his urgent attention. Duffy manages to deal with all his problems and investigate the high school VIP murders to prove Howard Rheinhart’s innocence. Once again, Al assists him in finding evidence and clues.
