Dragon Mage Series by Scott Baron
Author Scott Baron writes the “Dragon Mage” series of science fiction novels. The series began publication in the year 2019, when “Bad Luck Charlie” was released.

It stars Charlie Gault, whose bad luck followed him everywhere he went. He is a scientific engineer turned spaceman that ends up crash landing on a foreign planet.

“Bad Luck Charlie” is the first novel in the “Dragon Mage” series and was released in the year 2019. Charlie Gault had all the luck in the world. Too bad, then, that it was not the good sort.

It appeared as though Lady Luck had quite the grudge against him. At this point just crashing the multi-billion-dollar ship he helped design would normally have felt like winning the lottery compared to his latest dilemma. If only he were so lucky.

Things started out going okay, until that freak wormhole swallowed up his ship unexpectedly, which left him stranded on some unknown planet light years away from home. With the lives of his crew at stake, Charlie had no choice but to quit whining, put on his big boy pants, and stand up to save all of them. Much to his own surprise, it seemed like he might actually succeed. That was when things really went sideways in ways that made just crashing on some uncharted planet appear to be a walk in the park by comparison.

Charlie, who’s suddenly faced with talking dragons, alien space pirates, and something that seemed a whole lot like magic, found he was adrift, feeling like some space Robinson Crusoe. Only his man Friday was some blue-skinned alien. And this wasn’t just some desert island, rather it was a brand new galaxy.

This is a wild and fun ride. It is non-stop insanity with things going on that you do not expect. Charlie is an entertaining character with the worst luck and along the way he meets some interesting characters.

“Space Pirate Charlie” is the second novel in the “Dragon Mage” series and was released in the year 2019. Charlie was living a life of luxury being alien wizard’s gladiator slave. It wasn’t ideal at all.

He survived the spaceship crashing, space pirates, alien slave traders, and some fierce gladiatorial combat. He had even faced off against an actual fire-breathing dragon and lived through it, however now he was presented with one even greater challenge. Domestic living, prisoner on a strange world.

He had to laugh at his changing circumstances, having seen everything since a wormhole spat him out in some distant galaxy. Charlie learned to use magic, learned how to fight, he learned how to kill, and to survive at any cost. This hard work somehow landed him his cushy life on a powerful wizard’s estate. All was not like it appeared, however.

Something was wrong, and he still was not a free man. Being a prisoner, even in a gilded cage like this, was awful to the spaceman from planet Earth. As the new existence that he had fallen into appeared to be a luxurious one, he could not help but wonder when all of it would go to hell. Charlie really should’ve known that with his luck, the answer would be soon.

The book is an outstanding sequel, filled with the author’s unique mix of action, fun, and adventure.

“Dragon King Charlie” is the third novel in the “Dragon Mage” series and was released in the year 2019. Charlie believed building a spaceship was difficult, so being king should be a walk in the park. Unfortunately this was a park filled with serpents, quicksand, and all sorts of other lethal things.

It was good to be king, or so Charlie believed. After one abrupt crash arrival, people finally quit trying to murder him, for the most part, anyway. His new subjects respected him. Or at least feared him. It was kind of tough to tell what with the huge dragon that had eaten the previous king standing right behind Charlie.

Charlie was ruling this realm best way he knew how to. It all appeared to be going alright. He was worried that it wouldn’t last, and as luck would have it, word about an odd new threat quickly came to him. A threat that may even have some magic on their side. Obviously, it was impossible on this non-magical world, however he started accepting the impossible appeared to follow him where Charlie went, like some hungry dog lurking in his shadow.

Charlie, who’s faced with an unseen foe, had to protect his friends, but also those that looked up to him, too. It was going to be one hell of a task, and this spaceman from Earth hoped he was up for this task.

Charlie makes for a good king as shows kindness and mercy, leads by example is compassionate and is just while a king. This makes for an entertaining read as the plot is well thought out and well structured with some intelligent characters.

“Magic Man Charlie” is the fourth novel in the “Dragon Mage” series and was released in the year 2019. Like crap on your shoe, bad luck’s got a knack for sticking right to Charlie wherever he goes. It sure did stink.

Alien slavery? Done that. Forced gladiatorial combat? Yeah. Wormholes to a distant galaxy? Uh huh. Rising to the pinnacle of all power being the Dragon King? Done that too. Space pirate and later eventual rebel leader? Yep.

Charlie, it appeared, had seen it all and survived, and finally seemed like he had earned some peace and quiet. That is until one new threat reared its ugly head. Now, not only are those that he held dear were at risk, but the whole planet. Maybe even the entire solar system.

Once more, Charlie was in the right place at the wrong time, finding himself forced to evolve into something more. This time, however, on this tech-driven world, this space engineer from the past believed that he may finally have the advantage. Then again…

This story is captivating and keeps the reader wanting to continue reading it.
