This story is based on everything Jack the Ripper, from legends to facts. The city of London during the Victorian era is seized by panic, and for a good reason. All over the East End, young women are turning up dead. It’s not a coincidence that it’s happening; someone is murdering them.
Scotland Yard is starting to take on the cases and investigate, but no matter how diligently they toil, they are not getting closer to finding out who the rampant killer is. Susannah Hunt is just eighteen years old and has found herself alone now that her aunt has been discovered and joined the growing list of the victims.
Things are about to change when Susannah gets a legal guardian, Nicholas Craig. Susannah is finding out that Craig is mysterious but also handsome, and he’s going to be the one protecting her and looking out for her. This should go a distance when it comes to reassuring her, but she can’t help thinking that she may not be able to rely on the fact that safety is a certainty.
Nine Buck Row is now a place where she is going to call home, but it also has secrets about it. Susannah doesn’t know how to take the upstairs boarder Daniel Lord, the sometime painter who keeps to the shadows while also letting her know of his desire for her.
However, when it comes to potential suitors, Susannah’s eye is on Nicholas Craig. She finds herself becoming ever more engrossed with her guardian, but even as her attraction grows, she knows that she is being put into even greater levels of danger.
Horrible murders keep on happening throughout the city, and the people are terrified. There are plenty of suspects out there, but at the same time no clear lead and standout among them. Scotland Yard is doing its best to catch a monster on the loose– a figure that they’re starting to call ‘The Ripper’.
Can Susannah keep her heart in check and avoid letting her desire for Nicholas grow? Will she or others become victims of The Ripper? Who can Susannah trust? Read this fascinating fictional tale that takes elements from real life historical events and spins them into an amazing ride!
