About Stephenie Meyer:
Stephenie Meyer is the American born author of The Twilight series, The Host, and more. She was the best selling author in the United States for both 2008 and 2009. She made Time’s 2008 List of Most Influential People at #49, and was featured on the Forbes’ “Celebrity 100” list in 2009 at #26. A number of her books that have been published have been turned into movies, most notably the wildly popular Twilight stories about a human teenage girl’s star crossed love affair with a vampire in Washington state. Her novels have sold millions of copies world wide and she is one of the most read contemporary authors alive today. Stephenie Meyer makes about $50 million annually and has a net worth of $125 million.
Stephenie Meyer was born on December 24, 1973. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her five brothers and sisters. Meyer graduated from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale. She married her husband Christian when she was 21 in 1994, having known him since she was young in Arizona. Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University in 1997 with a Bachelor of the Arts in English. They have three children together.
Stephenie Meyer belongs to the Church of the Latter Day Saints and does not drink alcohol or smoke. She had some experience as a property manager receptionist but had never had any formal or informal writing experience before sitting down to write the Twilight series. Meyer sat down to write her first book in June of 2003, having been inspired by an ultra real dream about the two main characters who were in love. Meyer decided she had to get the book out and write more about the world of these people. The result was Twilight, one of the best selling youth adult fantasy books of all time.
The Twilight Series
The first book in the Twilight series, entitled Twilight, was published in 2005 by Little Publishing Company. Within one month of its publication the book was ranked at five on the New York Times Bestseller List. It was named “Best Book Of The Year” by Publishers Weekly and expanded into 26 other countries. Teenage girls and youth instantly went wild for the series and the novel sparked a vampire craze. Stephenie Meyer went on to write three more books in the young adult series about romance between a vampire and a human.
Twilight
Twilight focuses at first on the normal, somewhat boring life of a teenage girl named isabella or Bella Swan. Bella has moved from living with her mom to live with her dad Charlie In Forks, Washington while her mother Renee travels with her husband. Her parents have been divorced for a while and the move to Washington is something of a transition for Bella. However, she manages to make a couple friends at school and rekindles an old friendship with her good friend Jacob. Everything is going as planned in her average life when Bella catches sight of a boy at school who piques her interest. Her friends tell her that those are the Cullens, all members of the same family that were adopted by their doctor father and moved there a couple years ago from Alaska. Her friends tell her not to bother, but Bella can’t get Edward out of her mind.
Bella has a friend circle and boys are falling for her, but she barely notices. She’s seated next to Edward Cullen in her biology class. Rather than seeming excited or even neutral, he seems revolted, like he’s going to be sick. However, the next week he seems much more calm and polite, and introduces himself. They have a nice conversation. Then, Bella is going back to her car when an out of control car comes careening towards her. Edward gets in between her and the car and stops the car with his bare hands, then takes off. Bella is more confused and has more questions than ever.
She does some digging and through the telling of local legends comes to the conclusion that the Cullens are vampires. That they are immortal and eternal unless they are killed and feed upon animal blood and human blood, but never human food. Bella goes out shopping with her girlfriends in a nearby town from prom dresses. All is going well until she goes off on her own, and gets harassed and is in very real danger. Out of nowhere, a silver car screeches into the scene. Edward was following Bella to make sure nothing happened to her. She guesses his secret and they begin spending more time around each other and begin to develop feelings for each other. But there are also bad vampires roaming about, turning up mysterious animal and human deaths in Washington state. Edward and Bella enter into a relationship and are in love at the end of the book.
New Moon
New Moon is the second book in the series and was published in 2006. The book starts off with Edward leaving Bella, breaking Bella’s heart and causing her such pain that she starts feeling detached and like she made the whole thing up. Bella is devastated and only feels better when she’s hanging out with Jacob. However, the desire to have Edward back makes Bella reckless and she starts taking dangerous risks. Bella dives off a cliff and almost drowns, but she sees Edward appear to her while she’s underwater. But when Edward thinks she is dead, a series of events is set into motion that may be impossible to stop.
Books Made Into Movies
The entire Twilight series has been made into movies. Twilight the movie came out in November 2008 and starred Kristen Stewart as Bella, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, and Taylor Lautner as Jacob. Catherine Hardwicke directed the film. Twilight earned over $400 million worldwide. The other books in the series were subsequently made into movies, with New Moon premiering in November 2009, Eclipse in June 2010, and the final book, Breaking Dawn, was made into two movies that came out in November 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Stephenie Meyer’s book “The Host” has also been made into a movie that came out in 2013 that starred Saiorse Ronan as Melanie, a girl who has had her body taken over by an alien species and is fighting back. Aliens have taken over the Earth and most of the human bodies and are trying to eradicate the remaining human resistance. The movie made over $10 million its opening weekend and grossed over $26 million total in the United States.

Stephanie Meyer wrote a couple of books in the late 1990’s.
They were mystery’s and set around Wickenberg AZ. I saw her at a
book signing in Wickenburg —-it was at an outside craft fair.
Stephanie mentioned at that time to watch for a series based on
Vampires and Werewolfes.
How do I locate these early books?
