Stacey Abrams
Stacey Abrams is a thriller writer best known for her non-fiction books, Our Time Is Now and Lead from the Outside. She is a Yale University graduate who has been recognized numerous times for her works. As a tax attorney, Abrams worked in the Georgia House of Representatives for eleven years and seven years as a minority leader. In 2018, the talented author was nominated for the governor seat in Georgia on a Democratic ticket. Had she won, Abrams would have been the first African-American female to hold that position. Abrams has several organizations handling social issues. She is also involved in promoting voting rights and training people of color and other minority groups.

Our Time Is Now
Our Time Is Now is a story about democracy and why the fight for it continues. In this book, the author, a national leader with years of experience, gives a first-hand account of what it feels like to run for governorship in America. Abrams ran for Governor in Georgia, and as a black woman obviously in the minority, she had it rough. Fortunately, this is not just a story of what is wrong with America. The author also documents the steps she has taken to ensure that the minorities are heard. From her narrative, it is clear that the fight for democracy continues even in modern times.

In 2018, Abrams expressed her interest in the Georgia governorship. The accomplished lawyer felt that she was qualified for the job after serving as a house representative for over ten years. However, even after running the most innovative race, she did not win. She was to be the first African-American female governor, but there was so much working against her. Why all the hostility despite the fight for democracy? How far will the conservatives go to suppress the voice of the poor and minorities in the US? The author extensively answers these questions and much more. If you are not aware of the closures recorded in polling stations in Kentucky, poll taxes set to discourage some to vote, and voter purges, this book is for you.

As Abrams explains, everyone in a democracy must be heard. The complexity in communities cannot be addressed if America continues to suppress some of its citizens. Why won’t the country allow its people to have their unique values and elect the leaders they want? The author doesn’t just criticize the system, but she offers solutions. There is a lot the country can do to empower its citizens, end voter suppression, and make America a country where everyone is free to thrive and contribute to decision-making both at the local and national levels. By detailing her experiences, this author shows how things would be better if a robust voter protection system was in place and the country evaluated identity politics and moral leadership.

Our Time is Now is an intriguing read and a must-read for anyone interested in democracy. The author draws from renowned scholars and national organizations and argues her points based on personal experiences. You will get to read anecdotes about the author and others who have continuously fought for America’s democracy. The author urges us to join in the fight for democracy and ensure that every American is heard and well represented. She is clear that we all have to take action if we hope to move the country forward and change the world.

Lead from the Outside
Lead from the Outside is an intriguing non-fiction book on leadership. Leadership is not for the faint-hearted, and it takes courage and insight to take charge and deliver. This is a handbook for outsiders who want to get into leadership. Women, people of color, millennials, and other minorities ready for change will find the author’s insights on leadership helpful since this book is written with them in mind. Abrams draws from her experiences and documents how fear prevents many from taking the first step towards their dreams. She also shows how ambition, failure, and money work in leadership. The author also highlights steps that future readers can use to hone their skills and realize their ambition.

Unlike your ordinary self-help book, this one is written with true-life lessons. The author’s career in politics, the non-profit world, and business has been impressive, and it has come with many lessons on leadership and life in general. The author explains how you can employ gender, race, and class to rise to the top and become the leader you have always wanted. Abrams doesn’t shy away from sharing her dreams. Running for president of the united states is on her to-do list, and she is already taking steps to turn her dreams into reality. She states that ambition means that you have to be proactive and take all the opportunities that align with your dream.

One of the thing to like about this book is the author’s honesty. Abrams documents her failures and highlights all the lessons she learned from them. There is also an emphasis on the need for leaders to be strong and determined enough to accomplish their goals. Leaders have to believe they are enough to achieve whatever they put their minds to, even when the odds are not in their favor. However it doesn’t mean that you will always win. Failures are common, but your willingness to keep pushing will determine how far you go. The author also emphasizes the need for working as a team and having good support from mentors.
Lead from the Outside is a must-read for aspiring leaders. The book highlights the skills, understanding, and support you need to make it in politics and business. As a black woman, the journey towards her goals hasn’t been easy for this woman. She has learned to sit back and rethink her priorities and the need for collaboration and compromise. While you read this book, you will admire the author’s perseverance and guts. It is impressive how she allowed her friends to support her, and she still believed in herself despite her weaknesses.
