South Carolina Sunsets Series
South Carolina Sunsets is a fiction series by Rachel Hanna. The series starts with a devastating divorce between Julie and Michael. After over 20 years of marriage, Michael announces that he wants a divorce, and Julie has no choice but to let him go. Fortunately, this marks the beginning of a new and fulfilling life for Julie. She will meet new people, make new friends, and even fall in love again. Michael will be coming in and out of her life, and it is interesting how things between them unfold. You will also be interacting with Julie’s daughters, her sister and mom, and the many people she meets in her new home on the beach.
The Beach House
The Beach House comes first in the South Carolina Sunset series. This series introduces Julie, a woman in her forties struggling to re-establish herself. Julie and her husband Michael were now empty nesters after raising their two daughters. They decide to sell their house, and Julie is hoping that now that life has slowed down, they can enjoy life a little more as a couple. Little did she know that her husband had other plans. Immediately after the house is sold, Michael announces that he wants a divorce. He has been seeing someone behind Julie’s back, and he already has a child with the other woman.
Julie is devastated to learn the truth. She is now being forced to start life again. Fortunately, she has her share of the money from the sale of her house to help her set a new life elsewhere. Julie decides to move to an island off the South Carolina coast and buy herself a beach house. She doesn’t give her decision a lot of thought until it becomes clear that that cozy cottage she had invested in was a renovation nightmare. However, despite her fear of the unknown, Julie pushes on. Can she manage to deal with all the renovations and still focus on her healing? What about her mother and her estranged sister, who doesn’t seem ready to give her the quiet she desires?
This is a lovely and exciting story about new beginnings and life’s uncertainties. It is the tale of a woman who is forced to accept reality quickly, no matter how hard it is. You will enjoy meeting Julie’s daughter and the rest of her family. Dixie is another outstanding character, and it is easy to fall for his wit and Southern charm. A few unplanned things will happen along the way, but Julie handles them all with her head held high. Julie’s jealous sister adds a lot to this story, and you cannot help but wonder what more she will come up with in the future.
The Beach House is an intriguing story characterized by a great storyline, quirky characters, and a fantastic protagonist. Julie’s journey is characterized by pain and uncertainties, but this woman is determined to carve a new world for herself. The author allows us to see how each character fits into her new life as it unfolds. Things get emotional at some point, but it is incredible how Julie rises from her experience and works to enjoy what is left of her life. This is one of those stories that draw you in, making you forget the world around you. You will enjoy following Julie throughout her journey and keep hoping that she will finally find the happiness that she deserves.
Sunsets & Second Chances
Sunsets & Second Chances comes second in the South Carolina Sunsets series. Julie’s life has started stabilizing once again. Her beach house is as cozy as she anticipated, she is getting along with her sister, and her new job at the library is going great. There is also her developing relationship with Dixie that is going on just the way she wants. For a woman who had just gone through a divorce, Julie is doing great. Her new life is becoming fulfilling by the day, and it is clear that the future is bright. However, as it happens in life, something will come up to disrupt the peace.
Well, this time around, it is Julie’s daughter who brings the chaos. Coleen shows at her mother’s beach house engaged. That would be great news if the man were any good for her. Julie is concerned that her daughter is making the wrong decision, but Colleen is too blind to see it. Then Dixie’s son shows up on Christmas Day, and he looks pissed. It turns out that Dixie has been keeping a huge secret, and everyone will be shocked once the truth is revealed. At some point, Julie and Dawson will also question their relationship. Should they continue dating or choose to remain friends?
Just like in the first installment, Julie’s remarkable strength and grace shine through from the first page. She is one strong woman who weathers an emotional storm and creates a new life most of us can only dream about. Julie goes a step further to start a new relationship and is dedicated to helping her daughter grow strong and resilient, just like her. Dixie son’s surprise visit will come with its fair share of revelations, and it is fun watching how everyone behaves after this. Janine has a new friend, but no one is happy about the friendship considering all she has been through.
Sunsets & Second Chances is an intriguing story that takes us deeper into Julie’s life. The author reveals details about her healing, forgiveness, and new love. A lot is also happening on this tiny island, and you will have a lot of fun following the action. There is an astonishing twist at the end that will leave you searching for the next installment in this series. This story is just right for anyone who enjoys adult romance. Everything from the pace to the narration is done well, and it is fun getting into those deep conversations between Julie and Dawson. Julie’s relationship with her daughters is also amazing, and her old and new friends at the island make life livelier for this amazing woman.

Rachel, I just finished reading The Beach House and loved it. There were places where I had to read fast so I could find out what was going to happen next !I was so relieved that Julie and Dawson got together at the end. Thank you so very much for writing the story with no curse words. I’m 83 yrs. old, a Christian woman, and I don’t read stories with bad words as part of the vocabulary. Again, thank you for a wonderful story and I look forward to the next one. Sincerely- Harriet
