Sophie Cleverly is a British author of fiction. She was born in 1989 in Bath, England.
Cleverly always knew that she wanted to be a writer and went to school to study creative writing. Cleverly received a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Creative Writing and went on to specialize for her Master’s degree, studying writing for young people as her field.
Cleverly put those degrees to good use and is currently now a published author! She first made it into print in 2015 with the release of her first book to the world. It is called The Lost Twin and kicked off what would be a series with multiple books in it, the Scarlet and Ivy series, which is about two twin girls that are best friends.
The Scarlet and Ivy series is designed for a young adult audience, but they can be read by anyone! The series is published by two different sources depending on the country. When Sophie Clearly is not busy writing, she is pursuing her other hobbies! These include making some progress on a pile of books that only seems to increase, watching fantasy television, and listening to and blogging about symphonic metal.
The Lost Twin is the debut book in this popular and fun series by Cleverly about the identities of two girls and the adventures that they have. Ivy and Scarlet may be twins, but they couldn’t be more different from each other. Ivy is known for her shyness, while Scarlet is the outgoing one and the twin that is always getting into trouble.
It’s for this reason that Scarlet is sent to boarding school. But when Scarlet disappears from the grounds of Rockwood boarding school, Ivy has no idea what could have happened to her twin. The school invites Ivy to attend the school, taking her place in a way. But when she gets there, she finds out that this is more than just a casual invitation to attend a private school for free.
It seems that the school has the idea of Ivy pretending to be Scarlet. It’s an odd idea, and Ivy immediately sees it for what it is. They are trying to keep something secret and maybe even buy a little time by having Ivy pretend to be Scarlet and live just like she did at the school. They want her to think and act like her missing twin sister– essentially embodying her and pretending to be her.
This only makes Ivy wonder what actually happened to her twin. Clearly the school is trying to keep what happened a secret, but why? Scarlet has thought of Ivy, however, and left her journal all over the grounds of the school for her sister to find. She hopes that her twin will find the pieces of her instructions and follow her guidelines, and she’s right.
The letter to her says that she hopes that it is Ivy that is reading the note and tells her that Ivy is the new Scarlet. Ivy looks for more clues and tries to piece together what happened to her sister, hoping to find her and the truth before it’s too late. But in a place like Rockwood with a staff always watching, they will do anything that they can to keep the truth hidden for good.
Can Ivy track down her sister, or will the school get in the way? What are they so desperate to hide? You will have to read The Lost Twin to find out!
The second novel in the Scarlet and Ivy series by Sophie Cleverly is titled The Whispers in the Walls! If you or your child enjoyed the first book in the series, then you’re guaranteed to enjoy this interesting second installment. Ivy and her twin sister Scarlet have been reunited once more, no thanks to the staff of a certain boarding school.
The twins thought that they could get away from this horrible place, but Rockwood School is destined to host them for another year. All thanks to the efforts of their stepmother, who has a cold heart and doesn’t care what the girls want. The boarding school is no prize. All of the hallways seem to have drafts, and the place is always cold.
The headmaster is not very nice, and overall this boarding school is one of the most horrendous places on Earth to be a student at. Scarlet and Ivy don’t want to be at this horrible institution, but it seems that they have little choice. Now there is a thief loose in the school, and it’s making everyone suspicious. Now it seems that Scarlet is coming under the spotlight– even though she didn’t do anything.
But when the walls start talking and whispering, it might be a good idea to find out what they want to say. Scarlet is known for getting in trouble, but she is not going to stand for being accused of something that she didn’t do. The blame is falling on her, and this twin is going to do whatever it requires to show everyone that she isn’t a thief and clear her name for good.
The twins are going to have to sacrifice their schoolwork for some time and focus on their investigation. It’s going to take some detective work done late at night if they want to get to the bottom of this. The twins are determined to do whatever they can to catch the thief or prove Scarlet is innocent and show the staff that they’re wrong.
Scarlet is going to clear her name or do everything that she can to prove her accusers wrong. But secrets run deep at Rockwood. The past comes to the light eventually, even if you don’t want it to. Is it possible that Rockwood’s walls could be hiding some secrets of their own?
If the twins listen to the whispers from the walls, they just may be able to crack this whole thing wide open. What will happen in the end? You have got to pick up this intriguing mystery novel, the second in Cleverly’s Scarlet and Ivy series, to find out!
