Shawn Inmon is an award-winning and bestselling author of literary fiction best known for the “Middle Falls Time Travel” series. As a child, he was an ace in the spelling bee, coming in third in Mrs. Marsh’s competition in the third grade. Just like he was when he was a child and a youth he learned much of what he knows by trying out a lot of different things. He worked as a DJ in radio stations in California, Montana, Washington, and Wyoming, was the Managing Broker for a real estate company, was the buyer for department stores, fished for crabs, cooked hamburgers at a fast food joint and worked for Unlimited Hydroplanes traveling the country. He published his first novel “Feels like the First Time” in 2012 and has never looked back since. Since then he has moved on from nonfiction to fiction and published his first fiction work “The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver” in 2016. This was the first of his now most successful and popular “Middle Falls Time Travel” series. He is married to Dawn his high school sweetheart with whom he has five daughters. They currently live in Seaview Washington on the Pacific alongside their cat and two Labradors named Sadie and Hershey.
While Shawn Imom did not achieve much success as an author until much later in life, he started writing and reading from a very young age. He was lucky to have a mother who encouraged him to read and as such he was reading from the age of three or four. By the time he was in kindergarten, he was devouring full chapters while other kids were still playing with colors. By the time he graduated from high school in 1976, he was the winner of the Most Promising Writers of Washington State Award that he won twice in a row. But he would not publish for the next four decades as life got in the way and finally, he lost all confidence. One of the reasons he probably lost his confidence was the fact that he had to break off his relationship with Dawn his girlfriend as he left to go study at the University of Washington. It was not until he met Dawn twenty-seven years late in 2006 that he started writing again chronicling their experiences. He sent the manuscript to his sister who loved it and told him that he should think of publishing it. However, it was the death of his sister ten days after reminding him to publish the novel that got him to take action. He published portions of the manuscript on an online website “Writing Raw” and got some good reviews but had to take it down when Dawn got wind of it and was not too pleased. Being the very good salesman that he is, he convinced her to let him publish which he did in 2012. The novel “Feels Like the First Time” was a hit and quickly started selling hundreds of copies every month. He followed it up with “Both Sides Now” that was their story told from Dawn’s perspective.
The success of his first two novels gave Shawn Inmon the confidence to get back into writing as a professional author. He has also written a series of romance novelettes titled “Second Chance” that debuted with “Second Chance Christmas.” Just like his Second Chance series the “Middle Falls Time Travel” series is all about the lead characters trying to live better lives when they get a second go at it. The first novel is about a middle-aged man named Thomas Weaver whose life is a mess as he just lost his job and is living with his mother. Looking to end it all, he commits suicide only to find himself a teenager with a chance to deal with a horrific family tragedy that had been the cause of all his troubles. In the second novel, all Michael Hollister wanted was death but he wakes up in his eight-year-old body and a chance to right the biggest wrong he ever committed. The third novel tells the story of Dominick who unlike the other two protagonists goes back in time to meet and marry his wife. But once he travels back in time he learns that he left his wife in the other world. The premise makes for some thought-provoking and entertaining stories in the series as they illustrate just how much we could learn to live better if we could get a second chance. However, it also cautions that getting a second chance might not be as rosy as we would love to think it is.
“The Unusual Second Life of Thomas Weaver” is a metaphysical and science-fiction journey about second chances and time travel. It also chronicles one man’s chance at redemption and what life was like during the 1970s. The lead became a young adult during the 1970s only for a tragedy to wreck his life. Four decades later, he thinks his life is over and commits suicide but he gets the surprise of his life when he opens his eyes in his old teenage bedroom. He has all his memories and nothing seems to have changed at all. The novels asks what would someone do differently if they got a second chance at doing it right. He has to avoid a serial killer in training, avoid a tragedy and gets close to a girl he has taken a fancy to. But he is still puzzled as to why he had been granted a second chance though he does not have much time to think given all that is happening in his life.
Shawn Inmon’s “The Redemption of Michael Hollister” is the story of Michael who commits suicide in 1977 and opens up a decade earlier now eight years old. He has all his memories intact and he immediately starts worrying about the dark intentions of his father. When his father inevitably tries to abuse him, Michael gets the chance to right the wrong that had changed the course of his life. But this time he is determined to protect himself without turning into a killer. What follows is the evolution of the character from a weak man into something totally unexpected. He becomes a strong man that will make almost anyone love him and all that he stands for. The story provides laughs, righteous feelings of pride and some tears at how far Michael has come when given a second chance in life.
“The Death and Life of Dominick Davidner” tells of a protagonist willing to spend several lives just to get a new experience with his loved one. Davidner was killed and instead of proceeding to the afterlife he went back in time and is now a nine-year-old boy. He has all the memories of his previous life intact and this means that he misses the love of his life Emily. Unfortunately, she is in the life he left behind and there is no way he can be with her. How can he get back to her and if he finds her what will he say?
