I was traveling in August to the UK and we were incredibly busy. So I never got into reading that much while away unfortunately.

I did get some reading done of course! I’d never miss it. If I was in a coma I’d hope my wife would strap some headphones to me and play an audiobook. Need to get the reading in.

Here’s what I read:

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover: Wanted to see what all the big fuss was about. Depending on where you look, her books are quite polarizing. I quite enjoyed this one and rated it 7/10 over on Book Notification. I’ll read the sequel for sure, and am looking forward to watching the adaptation.

The Vanishing by Bentley Little: A story where rich millionaires and billionares go absolutely crazy basically. I enjoyed this but it is still my lowest rated Bentley book at 6/10. If you’re going to read him, read “The Store”. His best by far.

The Liemaker by Linwood Barclay: Solid story about a boy whose father leaves to enter the witness protection program, then years later that boy, now a man, is an author and gets hired to write backstories for people in the witness protection program. A bit predictable, but a solid 7/10. Listened to that one.

Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay: A very rare DNF for me. Second time I have tried it and I got to the 20% mark and gave up. I was listening to it so I may give it a third try at some point, but reading instead of listening.

What Have You Done by Shari Lapena: Normally one of my favourite authors, but this one I did not enjoy too much. A young girl is murdered and it could be one of many people in a small community who murdered her. However it ended up being very predictable, and there was a very weird arc to it where one of the narrators was the soul of the dead girl. Who couldn’t remember what happened to her. So it didn’t add to the story at all. 4/10.

Thank you for your efforts to keep readers/listeners informed. Now … what does DNF mean?
