Melinda Leigh is an author of fiction.

Before she was a writer, Melinda was a banker. Thankfully she has fully recovered from that occupation and moved into her new career as a best selling author! She has always loved books, but Leigh began writing in order to have an outlet while she was busy being a mother and helping to raise her kids.

Even though she did not technically know much about writing a book, she learned quickly. The next couple of years taught her a lot about what she needed to know about writing and she found that the writing process far surpassed her job where she would pore over financial statements. As a result, she decided to turn her outlet and hobby into something that she could do full time.

Melinda Leigh first became an officially published author with the release of her first novel, which is titled She Can Run. The book did fairly well and ended up being nominated for an award for the best first novel courtesy of the writing group International Thriller Writers. Since then, she has also been a finalist for a RITA Award and has also received multiple nominations and other awards for her work.

When she isn’t busy writing, she’s hanging out with her family. She lives in a house located in the suburbs along with her husband, children, and some dogs and cats that run the place. She says that she has a pleasant life but cannot provide an explanation for how dark her imagination can sometimes be!

Luckily, she channels it all into her books. She has also taught self defense to women, studied Jiu-Jitsu, tried her hand at stick fighting, and has studied Kenpo Karate and holds a second degree belt.

Melinda Leigh is the creator and author of the Scarlet Falls series. The series kicked off in 2014 with the release of the debut novel, Hour of Need. The sequel quickly followed and the release of Seconds to Live made the series a trilogy.

Hour of Need is the first book in the exciting Scarlet Falls series! If you love action and adventure as well as thrillers and murder mysteries, you might just enjoy this novel. The setting is Afghanistan, where Major Grant Barrett is fighting. He’s there when he receives some tragic news that is absolutely devastating. As it turns out, his brother and his wife have been killed.

Grant would have thought that if anyone were in danger of getting killed, it would be him. But Scarlet Falls is where Grant grew up, and it turns out that it is the setting for their suburban murder. The soldier has been scarred by battle, but this news shakes him to the core. It’s just another wound on top of many for him.

Grant knows that he must go back and takes an emergency leave off of duty. He comes back to his home town and does his best to care for his niece and nephew, now orphans. Things seem fine for the moment even though everything is crazy. But then someone attempts to break in and kidnap the babysitter and the kids, and Grant is starting to put the pieces together– and find out that this was not a random attempt to kidnap or a random murder.

Ellie Ross is the mother of the teenager that was babysitting the kids at the time. Ellie was already upset to hear the news that her neighbors had died– and violently. She had no idea that she would be putting her daughter in danger. Concerned for her family and the neighborhood, Ellie and Grant join forces together in order to find out what’s going on once and for all.

They are doing the best that they can to find out the truth, but can the two of them navigate their feelings for each other? Grant is used to doing battle, but trying to find a killer while dealing with his emotions and how he feels about Ellie may be all too much with the threat of having to go back to deployment hanging over his head.

Either way, they are running out of time to find the killer, who’s still out there. Can Grant and Ellie track down the murderer before they strike again? Can they keep the kids safe in the process? You’ve got to pick up this thrilling debut in the Scarlet Falls series to find out!

Minutes to Kill is the gripping sequel to the first novel in Melinda Leigh’s Scarlet Falls series. When it comes to action, the most adventure that Hannah Barrett sees is in the legal world. She’s a corporate attorney, but when she’s in Vegas the last thing that she expected to experience was an attempted kidnapping.

Still, that’s exactly what happened, and she tried to stop it. But even Hannah couldn’t stop the abduction, and now she can’t get the girl out of her head. She thinks that she will never get over it, but without any ability to figure out what to do next she decides to go back to Scarlet Falls, her old hometown.

That’s when she realizes that the people who kidnapped that young girl also might have information about her. Personal information that she never thought that she could have. When she gets some emails that pertain to the victim showing up in her inbox and thinks that they could even be tracking her, it’s clear that what happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas.

The nightmare in Sin City appears to be following her, and she’s had enough. She has nowhere to turn but to professional help and needs the services of Detective Brody McNamara. He’s willing to help her, even if he is up to his eyeballs in the details of a case regarding a violent murder.

Brody thinks that he can take on this case and manage his other, but can he resist the allure of Hannah as they work this case? They’re developing feelings for each other quickly, but with killers and kidnappers on the loose, is there time for love? Read the exciting second Scarlet Falls book to find out!
