Having written over sixty bestsellers that have topped the New York Times best-sellers list, she is quite the author whose books dominate the store’s bookshelves. She also goes by the pen names of Rachel Ryan, Laura Jordan and Erin St. Claire.

Biography of Sandra Brown

Going by the middle name of Lynn, Brown was born on March 12th, 1948 in Waco, Texas USA. Her early childhood days were spent at Fort Worth. She went on to Texas Christian University where she majored in English. In 1968, before she completed her college degree, she left to get married.

Her husband, Michael Brown is a former television anchor and whose film production works have earned him accolades. His production of the documentary Dust to Dust led him to get awards in the film industry. Together, they live in Arlington, Texas.

Just like most of her author colleagues, Brown was involved in several other undertakings in life before she finally settled as a writer. She got into modelling, working for Dallas Apparel Mart but later on got into television. She served at KLTV in Tyler as the weather news anchor. Thereafter she went back to Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex area and got a job as a reporter for WFAA-TV.

Finally in 1981, her writing career kicked off after Brown’s husband challenged her to it. From that moment onwards, it has been best-seller hit after hit.

The literary success of Sandra Brown

Many of her novels have been published under her real name but quite a number go by one of her three pen names. Some of them have been adapted into movies over the course of time. Many of these books have been translated into over thirty other languages with more than seventy million copies of these novels being found all across the globe.

Her exemplary work has earned her a number of awards. These include awards from the Romance writers of America, The American Business Women’s Association and the A.C Greene awards among many others. The icing on the cake is when she received an honorary doctorate from Texas Christian University, her alma mater.

Sandra Brown’s books are tales infused with romance and highlights of suspense and thriller action. Her book French Silk was adapted into a television film in 1994. In 2007, her flair for writing earned her a place in the creation of Murder By the Book, a television court series.

In the book Led Astray which is part of the Astray and Devil series, Brown captures the love story of one Jenny Fletcher. She is a calm and quiet young lady engaged to her fiance, Hal. They are happily in love but Hal is committed to a humanitarian cause in Central America.

He plans to make a trip there and the night before he leaves, Jenny decides to surprise Hal with a lovely gift; herself. Her enticing efforts end up being fruitless so she goes to bed alone. Well, sometime in the night the door opens and in walks a man. Jenny offers herself to him. Hal leaves and Jenny is left with Hal’s brother, Cage.

Unknown to her, Cage had always been eying her but out of respect for his brother, he had never made any move. Meanwhile, in Central America, Hal is killed and sometime afterwards Jenny discovers that she is pregnant. She presumes that Hal’s parents will be excited that at least she would bore their son’s offspring.

Unexpectedly, Hal’s parents are not at all pleased and Jenny has to leave their house where she had been staying since her own parents died. Cage decides to make his move and Jenny is attracted to him. She fights the dilemma of falling into Cage’s temptation while she carries Hal’s child.

In a twist of events, Cage reveals to her that he was the one who came into her room the night before Hal left. So in reality, the pregnancy was Cage’s. The intriguing story unravels as Jenny fights not to be led astray by the somewhat wild Cage. Sandra Brown replicates her captivating style of writing in the novel, Send No Flowers. This book is part of the Bed and Breakfast series.

Alicia Russell is an independent self-assertive widowed woman who struggles to fend for her two sons by herself. She is not particularly inclined to receiving help from any man for whatever reason. Her tough stance softens when she is caught up in the middle of a storm as she is out camping with her sons.

She finds herself in a camping cabin with no electricity and no other form of light. Luckily for them their cabin neighbor, Pierce Reynolds offers them his cabin for the night. The next day things take an interesting turn as Alicia finds her cabin destroyed by a tree that fell on it.

She contemplates cancelling the trip much to the dismay of her sons who had struck an instant cordial relationship with Pierce. She decides to continue camping and stays with Pierce. Soon enough it becomes quite obvious that Alicia is greatly attracted to Pierce and they end up sleeping together.

Both of them consider it a casual relationship that cannot progress further. Eventually they part ways when going back home in Los Angeles but somehow her sons always find a way of bringing Pierce back into their lives.

Suspense builds up as Alicia is torn over loving Pierce yet she had vowed never to love another man, only to lose him again. Meanwhile, Pierce holds a secret that he may be dying soon due to a fatal illness he has. The two live out their love story fighting for each other in a captivating tale of passion.
