Samantha James is a historical romance and general romance fiction novelist who also writes under the pseudonyms Sandra Kleinschmit and Sandra James. She grew up in Joliet, Illinois, where she dreamed of becoming many things, but a writer was never on those lists. As a ten-year-old, she believed her destiny was to become an astronomer, only to change her aspiration to archeologist a few years down the line. When she started reading the Trixie Belden mysteries, she started thinking of becoming a detective, and when she got into the Cherry Ann series, she was convinced that she would become a nurse. As a student in college, she decided to become a teacher of history, then set her sights on a career as a flight attendant only to realize that she hated flying.

Like many novelists, Samantha James was brought up in a family that was full of readers, and hence she loved to read during much of her childhood. She had rather eclectic tastes even though she also took novels that her brother was done with, such as Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Doc Savage series. As a teenager, she got into Phyllis A. Whitney, Daphne DuMaurier, and Agatha Christie. As an adult, she got a job in an office, and it was at an office Christmas party that she met someone on a semi blind date. A friend told her that he was interested in taking her out while he was informed that she would be interested in him too. Several months later, he was sent to Germany by the U.S. Army, and they continued their correspondence every week. Samantha James likes to joke that writing to her man three times every week was the beginning of her career as a writer.

Soon enough, Samantha James got married and started a family. With so much on her hands, she decided to leave behind the detective work and become a better mother to her three girls. When her youngest daughter was half a year old, two important things happened in her life. The first was that she read Laurie McBain’s Moonstruck Madness, which got her hooked on historical romance that she scrambled to find any genre work she could find. The other thing that happened was that her older brother informed her that he had been writing for a while and was about to submit his short fiction works to a magazine. By that time, he had been rejected by the best of magazines, and finally, he would become a published author. This planted a seed in her as she thought that if her brother could take rejection and make it, she could, too.
Over one summer, Samantha James wrote three books in longhand in her notebook while her kids napped. She developed a burning desire to write as a nearly thirty-year-old, perhaps because she believed she had lost so much time. While it had taken so long to start writing, once she began, she just could not stop. As expected, all her three meticulously written manuscripts would get rejection letters and would never get published as they are still relegated to her attic. However, her fourth manuscript would hit pay dirt, turning her into a published author. James has now published more than thirty titles under her different pseudonyms.

To date, Samantha James has published editions of her novels in a variety of countries across the world. She has become known for her emotionally charged and heartfelt books, which have consistently been on the bestseller lists and have been nominated for numerous awards. She hopes to one day collaborate with her brother in a fantasy romance work, even though she now settles for spinning passionate and dramatic tales of old.

Samantha James’ A Perfect Bride is a brilliant work that introduced the Sterling Trilogy. The lead in the novel is an orphan who is fighting to keep herself safe and get food in her belly. She is working in a bar and usually hides behind a disguise to protect herself from leering eyes. But one day, she is attacked and stabbed by goons who leave her unconscious. She is found by the Marquess of Thurston, who rescues her, setting off an unexpected fairy tale romance between a strong and innocent heroine and a stoic but very kind hero. However, the man has very many misconceptions about the heroine, but she will not let them come between them as she confronts and slays everything thrown at her. This ultimately makes him fall for her pure charm and honesty. Soon enough, they are having a blooming romance full of societal burdens, rescued pregnant dogs, responsibilities, marital plans, and sibling love.

Samantha James followed up her debut work with A Perfect Groom, a novel that tells the story of Justin and Arabella. Justin Sterling is an infamous rake who is finally put on a leash by Arabella Templeton, the unattainable debutante and queen of the ball. He has always been a continuous source of irritation, while she has always been fascinated by him. He makes a childish bet and ultimately takes on the assignment of protecting her from the attentions of unwanted suitors. The assignment means they are in close proximity, which soon turns into an unlikely romance. She is a lost woman in search of love who knows it, while he is a scarred man who is looking for home but does not know it. It is a work with lots of hot love making, passionate romance, angst, and drama.

Samantha James once again put out a brilliant novel in the third novel of the Sterling Trilogy, A Perfect Hero. It opens with Julianna, a twenty-one-year-old, being left on her wedding day, which leaves her very heartbroken. Six years later, she still does not believe in love and is content with remaining single. Going back home one day, she is kidnapped by a highwayman, and when she awakens, she is with a very handsome rogue who happens to be the owner of a very temperamental cat. Initially trapped in a room, she finally gets an opportunity and shoots the hero, only for her kindness and conscience to take over. It is not long before they develop a passionate romance that results in some great times.
