Sally Britton is a Christian, historical fiction and romance author that is best known for her regency fiction.
The author started writing on her mother’s old typewriter when she was just 14 years old. As such, she knew she was destined to become a romance author as she loved to read the likes of Lucy Maud Montgomery, Louisa May Alcott, and Jane Austen.
Reading such works, she became determined to write about the complex and elegant worlds from past centuries.
In her teenage years, she went to Brigham Young University where she got her British literature and English degree. Not long after that, she met her husband and they have been living their happily-ever-after story for many years.
Over the years, she has made a name for herself writing stories in which the characters make their own choices in love, and step forward hoping for joy and happiness.
She published “The Social Tutor” as her debut novel in 2018 and has never looked back since. Britton now has more than thirty works to her name including contributions to series by other authors.
She currently makes her home in Oklahoma and loves to explore with her husband and kids.
When Sally Britton was fourteen years old, she read one of the great fantasies by Tamora Pierce and knew that she just had to write her own. Since her mother had an electric typewriter, she found it easy to start pursuing her dream.
It was not long before she realized that she was more likely to finish a story if there was some romance in it. She would then spend years writing stories most of which were her own fan fiction retellings of fairy tales.
She used to tell these stories to her three sisters as bedtime stories and for a while, she was responsible for making her siblings go to sleep.
After several years of reading fantasy novels, she got interested in historical romance. This was not surprising as her mother was a historian and hence she grew up watching all manner 0f documentaries.
She also remembers that she used to discuss with her mother what it was like living in the Regency and Victorian eras. Over time, the Regency era would become her favorite given that it has themes close to her heart.
As such, she loves to write about the strictures of society and how people strive to find joy and progress in spite of their limitations.
Since she has been writing historical romance for so long, Sally Britton has become very well-versed in many aspects of the genre. For the most part, she does not need to do much research when writing her novels.
Britton’s approach usually has to do with plotting out the main points of her story with a summary before she starts writing. It is only when she has a question that she will stop doing everything to do some research.
When she stops, she often finds a lot of stuff that she then used to enrich the story. According to Britton what has made her very successful is her dedication and love for the period in which she is writing.
“The Social Tutor” by Sally Britton is a beautiful historical romance that tells the story of Thomas Gilbert and Christine Devon. It has been years since the latter quit etiquette lessons and headed to the stables.
Her grand debut in the English capital is a few weeks away, even though she does not have the sophisticated polish that the elite men in society are looking for. She is desperate to take her place in society but will need to be instructed on how to act.
On the other hand is Thomas Gilbert, who is just coming back from Italy and intends to establish a horse farm which has been a dream of his for years.
While he was away, the estate lost a lot of money and it is now practically bankrupt. He has to find a way to save his family from utter ruin and may have to give up his dreams and sell his horses.
However, a chance meeting with Christine may solve the problems they both have. He can tutor her on how to behave in polite society and he can get access to some of the finest bloodlines in the country.
Over time, their arrangement is more about love than business. Will they realize it in time or will she ultimately leave and head to the glamor of the ballrooms in London?
Sally Britton’s novel “The Gentleman Physician” tells the story of Julia Devon and Nathaniel Hastings. Devon has arrived in Bath to help her beloved cousin with caring for her husband.
While it is not the best situation, this is best for Julia since she can no longer stand staying at home. Her father is a tyrant who considers her a failure and a spinster.
She is loyal and devoted and a very easy-to-love heroine but this has made her one of the easiest targets for some nasty people. She never expected her act of service would make her reunite with Doctor Nathaniel Hastings.
The latter is still pining for a girl that rejected him. He has low self-esteem and does not think he is an important person. He has no generous income and no rank and hence females looking for advantageous matches are not looking for him.
He is shocked to find Julia has come back into town as he still blames her for the cruel and cold rejection which had resulted in their breakup years earlier.
Nonetheless, some part of him is still pining for the love they once shared. What he does not know is that Christine had been forced to reject him.
“His Bluestocking Bride” by Sally Britton is the beautiful romance story of Marcus Clavert and Ellen Bringhurst.
She has always hidden her love so that she is not rejected while he had vowed to never risk getting his heart broken again. They never wished for a marriage of convenience but found themselves in one.
Elen has been underappreciated by her family and overlooked by her society and has resigned herself to a life of reading and spinsterhood. But then her friends’ scheme to reintroduce her t0 her childhood crush.
Marcus is the youngest son of an earl and has been informed that he will have to get married if he wants to get any inheritance.
He is still getting over a broken heart and thinks of marriage as something practical rather than something founded on romance and love. He proposes a marriage of convenience when Ellen is suggested as a potential bride.
Ellen accepts the proposal and hides her feelings as he does not want to risk being rejected by her husband. On his part, Marcus wants to protect his heart but over time he starts to develop some intense feelings for Ellen.
What had begun as a sensible arrangement may just become something much more.
