Sable Security is a series of suspense thriller novels written by Seeley James. The books follow the exploits of a young lady whose life takes an explosive turn when she takes over her father’s security company.
+The Story
Pia Sabel isn’t like other girls. She’s young and rich and she enjoys privileges that most girls could only dream of. However, Pia is also hardworking and grounded. First introduced to readers in ‘The Geneva Decision’, the first novel in the Sabel Security series, Pia lost her parents to assassins at a young age.
She was adopted by a billionaire who financed her education, taught her all the skills she might need to survive and then released her into the world.
At the start of the Sable Security Series, Pia is a soccer star with a thriving career. Though, she quickly changes tracks when her father calls upon her to take the top spot in Sabel Security.
Most girls her age would have trembled at the notion of taking the reins of a successful business. But Pia’s athletic background gave her all the confidence she needed to step into her father’s shoes and manage the hardened army men and women that work for the company.
Even though the heroine would have preferred to kick her reign off under peaceful circumstances, she does not hesitate to leap into action when a client is killed right in front of her.
The Sabel Security series essentially tells Pia Sabel’s exploits as she leads her father’s security firm on missions around the world to protect the innocent and punish the bad guys.
The Sabel Security books are very fast-paced. The author doesn’t give his characters much room to breathe in between all the gunfire and car chases and explosions. However, Seeley James always finds the time to explore the depths of her characters’ personalities and backgrounds.
Pia stands out because her personality clashes with many of her counterparts in the thriller genre. Many of the heroines in the genre are either tormented women from tragically harrowing homes who were mistreated early on in life and have, thus, learned to wear a callous exterior to survive in a harsh world; or overly feminine girls who use fashion and sex appeal to get what they want.
Pia Sabel was a happy child. Her father loved her. He took every opportunity to spend time with her and at no point was there ever a doubt in her mind that he cared for her.
However, the man never spoiled her. He allowed her to see life’s harsher aspects. He taught her the value of hard work and sacrifice. By the time Pia takes her place at the head of Sabel Security, she is a strong-willed, physically capable operative, more than up to the task of keeping her father’s legacy running.
And it quickly becomes clear that she will require every skill in her quiver just to keep up. Under its previous head, Sabel Security was very limited in its operations, primarily working to receive the clients who came looking for help and deploying resources to safeguard them from those forces that sought to cause them harm.
Under Pia’s leadership, Sabel Security becomes a far more active organization, not only protecting its clients but identifying injustices in the world and eliminating them. This change in approach exposes Pia and her employees to political and terrorist threats.
This proves problematic when Pia realizes that most of her soldiers do not trust her because they think she’s just a spoiled rich girl that does not deserve her place in the company.
Fortunately for the protagonist, she makes plenty of loyal friends and acquaintances along the way. Chief amongst them is Jacob. An army veteran, Jacob was the best killer the Military had.
But then he went crazy and started speaking to invisible voices in his head. The Military saw the dangers Jacob’s schizophrenia presented and summarily sacked him. Jacob’s skills quickly earned him a place at Sabel Security.
This is despite the fact that Jacob still hears the voices in his head, primarily because he refuses to take his medication. You won’t find Pia complaining though. Jacob has a crush on her and there’s nothing he won’t do to keep her safe.
Over the course of the Sabel Security series, Pia learns to depend on Jacob. The two of them face off against innumerable threats.
+The Author
Seeley James has lived a colorful life. He was barely older than sixteen when he became homeless. By 19, Seeley was a father with an adopted three-year-old girl to care for.
That last one was truly unexpected. Seeley volunteered to help a friend watch her daughter while the single mother worked the night shift. Seeley agreed with such enthusiasm that the friend in question took it as a sign to abandon her motherly duties in favor of starting over.
Seeley never buckled under the pressure. In fact, his experience in raising his adopted daughter gave him the insight he needed to create a strong, independent heroine for the Sabel Security novels.
+The Geneva Decision
Pia Sabel is a winner. It is with that mindset that Pia has always approached her soccer career. She brings that same mindset to Sabel Security, her adopted father’s private security company when he asks her to run the business.
Pia expects her first day at work to present a few challenges. However, she does not expect a client to be assassinated right in front of her. But that is exactly what happens.
Pia doesn’t know the protocols for dealing with such a situation but she has her instincts and her athletic prowess. So she leaps headlong into a conspiracy that drags her all over the world.
Along the way, she faces many an enemy who makes the mistake of dismissing her as just another spoiled rich girl.
+Bring it
Things go wrong for Pia Sable when she leaps into action to stop a child abduction ring in Sri Lanka. Now the State Department is looking to charge her with murder. Their chance to get a hold of her slips through their fingers when she is kidnapped.
As her captors torture her, Pia’s only hope is that Sabel Agent Jacob Stearne will get to her in time. Jacob is in love with Pia. But he is also clinically insane.
