Robin D Mahle
Robin D Mahle represents a dynamic duo made of a husband and a wife who decided to form a storytelling team. One team member is a comics and anime fan, while the other loves fiction with riveting prose, captivating dialogue, and a little bit of action. However, they both have a shared love for writing, and their impressive collection of published work shows this all too well. Robin works as a captioner for the deaf by day while her husband, a Marine Corps veteran, stays home and homeschools the kids. These two have two children, and the family lives in Colorado. Aside from writing, they also enjoy traveling the world as a family.

Winter’s Captive
Winter’s Captive is the first book in The Lochlann Treaty series. The book features Princess Charlotte, a young woman whose life is destroyed when her fiancé is kidnapped on their wedding day. This act by the rebel insurgents threatens to crumble Charlotte’s kingdom, something that she is not ready to take lying down. While there are enough people who volunteer to go out and rescue her fiancé, the princess realizes that she has to take matters into her own hands. Traitors in her inner circle, betrayed her and plotted to prevent the two kingdoms’ uniting.

The princess is determined to prove those that thought she is an-easy-to-manipulate puppet wrong. She is no damsel in distress, and nothing will stop her from trying to save her fiancé and her kingdom. Armed with nothing but determination and a good head over her shoulders, Princess Charlotte storms out of the castle to start her rescue mission. However, there are many obstacles in her path, and she will soon realize that everything is not as she expected. Born and raised in the castle, the princess knows nothing about survival in the outside world. The only thing she knows is that there is no time to waste, and if she doesn’t act quickly, it will be impossible to save her betrothed.

Join Princess Charlotte on an adventure where she will be fighting against assassins and rebels as well as her people. While she lacks the survival skills necessary to go against such crude people, Charlotte learns that the strength within her is greater than she thought, and she could overcome all the challenges thrown at her if she stays determined. Her friend Isla is a great companion on this adventure until these two are separated due to unavoidable circumstances. Logan then takes over, and he fights tirelessly to keep the princess safe. Will Charlotte’s will power be enough to save the prince, bring him home, and end the senseless war? What will happen to the kingdom now that the war drums have already sounded? Read this novel to the end for these answers and more.

Winter’s Captive is a fascinating read featuring a lovable protagonist, an intriguing storyline, and a solid plot. The author’s world is enthralling, and it is great how the author can include the finest details without slowing the pace. It is fun watching princess Charlotte’s growth in the story and seeing how this young woman handles the challenges that come her way. If you are looking for an outstanding young adult book with mature characters, loads of actions, and characters that you cannot get enough of, this book is a perfect choice.

The Fractured Empire
The Fractured Empire is the first book in the World Apart series. The book stars Adelaide and Clarke, two young people from totally different worlds who unite for a common cause. It has been years since Addie’s sister and mum were killed in the silent explosion. Now the only heir to her father’s vast estate, Addie is left with no choice but to endure the empty life chosen by her father. Finding purpose in her life has been a struggle but this changes when Addie meets Clark. Now she has something to look forward to and is no longer being used by her father to champion his agenda.

Clark, just like Addie, has been lost after his father’s death. As the son of the greatest terrorist ever seen in the empire, Clark has dedicated his efforts to his brother. He is also determined to win in every mission. He has enough demons that he is unwilling to deal with, but he knows that a time is coming when necessary. When a mission designed to recover a mystical artifact goes wrong, Clark is forced to choose between continuing with his mission and saving a spoiled socialite. He ends up picking the latter, which explains why he is now working alongside Addie.

These two are forced to work together in order to survive. This is not easy given that they are two headstrong individuals from different backgrounds. However, it doesn’t take long for them to figure out a way of coexisting. Addie is smart, and it is admirable how she thinks everything through before taking any action. Clark is respectful, especially towards Addie, and it is also remarkable how he takes care of his brother. One outstanding thing about this book is how the author includes italics mini-chapters that give the characters’ backstories. This allows the readers to know the different characters better without interrupting the flow of the story. The author has also outdone himself with the descriptions, especially in the fight scenes.

The Fractured Empire is characterized by a fast pace, unending action, and intriguing characters. This story is so enthralling that it will keep you up at night. Fortunately, the book is slightly over 320 pages, so you can finish it all in two sittings. The pace picks up on the first page, and the tension keeps on rising as the story progresses. It is also refreshing interacting with such lovable characters. Though different, everything clearly shows that Clark and Adelaide are a perfect match. The setting is also remarkable, and it is fun getting to experience this fantasy world and some of its inhabitants.
