Rob Neto began exploring underwater caves more than 20 years. He took the passion he had for these caves and put it into his books. Rob’s first book, Sidemount Diving The Almost Comprehensive Guide, a non-fiction how to book, was published in 2015 and became an instant success. He released a 2nd edition five years later. It has been translated into Dutch, German, and Spanish, with more coming. This book has sold thousands of copies worldwide.

Rob began his fiction writing endeavors in 2010 after the disappearance of Ben McDaniel, a scuba diver that was last seen at a popular Florida spring. Rob was one of the divers called to go into the underwater cave and look for the body. The body was never found. This event inspired Rob to begin writing Beyond the Grate, his debut novel. Rob got about halfway through writing the book when he hit a wall. He didn’t know how to end the book. It was set aside while working on other projects until 2022 when Rob decided it was long overdue. He pulled out the manuscript (not for the first time) and read it. The ending finally came to him. He finished the book and began the editing process. Beyond the Grate was released in January 2023. It received the 2023 Global Book Awards Silver Award in Suspense/Thrillers. Fourteen years after the event that inspired this book, Ben McDaniel still hasn’t been found.

Having found his writing mojo, Rob jumped into his second novel, Into the Darkness Beyond. This book continued with the main characters from Beyond the Grate, Joey Simmons and Lindsey Carter, and their adventures in underwater caves. In this thriller, Joey finds himself in a situation during a dive 2000 feet inside the cave. He saves himself and makes his way toward the opening only to be met by one of his idols a couple hundred feet before exiting the cave. This person escorts Joey out of the cave and takes credit for rescuing him in an ego inflating story. Joey finds himself having to deal with this stain on his reputation with others questioning his ability to safely cave dive. Into the Darkness Beyond is a 2024 Global Book Awards Finalist.

The third book in the series, Beyond Hope, brings Joey, Lindsey, and Gary, one of their friends from Into the Darkness Beyond, to the caves of Cozumel, Mexico. In this psychological thriller, Joey and Lindsey find themselves separated from Gary. Most of the book is set inside the cave during a single dive in which Joey and Lindsey fight against time to find Gary and exit the cave before they run out of air. Will they succeed? Or are they Beyond Hope?

Rob has embarked on a new series, Beneath the Jungle of Cozumel. In this series, Rob tells the story of his adventures while exploring the caves beneath the jungle of Cozumel. The first book in the series, Connecting the Crowns, tells the story of his efforts to connect a smaller cave, Dos Coronas, with the longest cave on Cozumel, Cueva Quebrada. Dive into Rob’s world in this true tale of adventure Beneath the Jungle of Cozumel.
