Mr. Compton has written some amazing books, such as Down On Gila River. Sam Sawyer is fifty years old. He has driven cattle all of his life, and he is at the point now where he wants to retire. He wants to live a relaxed life. This goes terribly wrong when Sam is ambushed and left to die in Gila River country. Here, Sam meets Hannah Stewart. Hannah runs a ranch in this area, but there is a sheriff in town that is causing Hannah problems.
Sam Sawyer wants to help Hannah, and he believes this is his next mission in life. However, Sam does not know what he is in for and he ends up on a path he did not expect. This path is beyond leading cattle, and Sawyer’s eyes are opened to a lifestyle he has never experienced.
Another book from Ralph Compton is Brimstone Trail. Paul was a man of past sins and he had no plans of becoming a better person until he received a call from the Lord, and he began to minister throughout the area. Paul has come to Pueblito Verde to preach. There are evil men that ride into Pueblito Verde, along with a ruthless bounty hunter, and there is gunfire every single day. Through all of this, Paul must stick to what he believes in and he must fight for his beliefs.
Another great book from Ralph Compton is The Hunted. Charlie Chilton has a temper that no one wants to test. However, an individual pushes his buttons with threats to expose his past. This causes Charlie to take action, but the man pushing buttons is friends with the town marshal. This causes nothing but problems for Charlie.
He is drafted into helping the marshal, but during the journey, fighting breaks out and Charlie is left for dead. Those who left Charlie for dead believe the war is over. However, the war is just beginning, because Charlie is alive and wants revenge.
Ralph Compton is author of two acclaimed books in the Strange Family series. In the first book, Death Rides A Chestnut Mare, Daniel Strange, the best gunsmith in Missouri, sells his shop and rides to Texas to buy cattle. He gets killed by outlaws during his trip and when news of his death reaches home, his daughter resolves to hunt down the killers.
