Rachel Callahan is best known as a bestselling dark romance fiction novelist. The Toronto, Ontario native has amassed quite a collection of works in which she usually combines romance, suspense, and fantasy to fascinate readers with her complex characters and dynamic storytelling.
It was in 2021 that Callahan began writing when she became a member of the Goodreads community. She published Ascension, her debut novel of the Ethereal Gods series, in 2021, and the positive reception gave her just the confidence she needed to continue writing. Pushing on from her debut, Rachel published several other novels across four series. She has also produced short stories that have been included in the dark romance collection Naughty and Spice. Her work in the latter delved into provocative and twisted narratives, showcasing her willingness and versatility in exploring the darker elements of romance. Over the years, Rachel Callahan has become known for writing stories with multifaceted and strong female characters in intricate romance plots.
Rachel Callahan’s Ascension is a brilliant work of fiction that tells the story of Adrian and Olivia. The latter knows that she should have never left the bed on her twentieth birthday, but instead, she went out and had too many drinks. Out on the town, she met a gorgeous man named Adrian, only to get kidnapped and taken to another realm. There, she learns that she is not fully human but rather, she is a half god, half human. To make it even worse, Adrian is not the typical one-night stand you pick up at the bar. He happens to be one of the four gods who are in charge of the school in the coming year. Olivia will have to attend if she is to have any hope of controlling her powers. The only way to get the powers back under her control is to prove that she can handle them. Even though she is angry at Adrian for taking her away from her life, she is still magnetically attracted to him. The only problem is that the gods Maximus, Kyros, and Mateo also make her feel the same way. They keep turning up in her life, confusing her with their possessive attitudes and penetrative stares.
Rachel Callahan’s Deception is yet another fascinating romance fiction work that continues from where the first left off. Olivia needed to pass her classes and complete the Ascension, and she has aced both. But then she notices another item on her list – defeat a dark major, which is certain was never on the original to-do list. All she wanted was to get away from everything and go with her friends to the beach for some margaritas. But everything changed when the guys she planned on getting away from somehow tracked her down. They are convinced that she is their mate, and she is starting to warm up to the idea. Despite trying to stay as far away from them as possible, she has not been able to get them out of her mind. However, she is terrified of the idea of forever, particularly since she just found out that she is a full-fledged god and immortal too. Things get even more interesting when she arrives back at the academy and has the most unexpected meeting. To make things even more interesting, she is supposed to take part in trials and win if she is to keep her newfound power. She just cannot seem to be able to catch any sort of break, even as she still has to fight for the guys.
Rachel Callahan’s third of the series is a novel that takes a very interesting turn. Olivia who was introduced in the first two novels is gone, as some scumbag betrayed her and tore her world apart. However, she is not the type to take everything lying down and intends to exact vengeance on Titus for his betrayal. She is still reeling from the deception and lies but intends to give everything in her fight to get back to her mates and avenge her sister. The treachery she has been subjected to has just awoken ancient magic in her that will not lie down until she exacts vengeance on all that had wronged her. Olivia was done fending off attacks from the gods as prey had turned predator and now intended to beat them at their own game. In light of the new revelations and new alliances forged, she believes she has the upper hand as she is death incarnate and in her is a combination of both the dark god and light god.
