Penelope Ward is the creator and author of the Jake series. This fictional series began for the first time in 2013 with the release of the debut novel, Jake Undone. The sequel came out shortly after. Jake Undone is the first novel in Penelope Ward’s romantic ‘Jake’ series! When it comes to life, Nina Kennedy always thought that she was doing okay. But when she meets a new man, she knows that she was alive but never truly living.
Part of what was ultimately holding her back was all of the fears that she had going on. Nina would be the first to admit that she had phobias and fears that she was dealing with and the irrational extreme nature of it was keeping her in a very basic life. She would simply avoid things that triggered her anxiety or fears, whether it was heights or trains and planes.
Nina decides that she wants to move all the way out to Brooklyn so that she can attend nursing school. It seems like a smart move to make but she has no idea that it is about to help turn her life upside down. When she gets an attraction to her roommate, she has no idea how to handle her new and intense emotions. Worst of all, she doesn’t even want to be attracted to her roommate, who is admittedly gorgeous.
Maybe Jake has this effect on everyone. Nina has no way of knowing. Cool to the bone, with tattoos and piercings and smarter than anyone that she has ever met in her life, Jake is everything in a person that she never knew could exist, and it is tough not to fall for him the instant that she meets him.
Jake Green may show off some rough edges, and his handsome smile is charming and devilish at the same time. But underneath all of that he has a warm heart that is gold right down to the core. He is doing everything that he can to help Nina and change the way that she looks at life. In fact, he is making it his mission.
He agrees that he is going to help her out by tutoring her. The two of them make a bet, and along the way, Nina is facing the things that bother her or scare her. There are a lot of things that she finds challenging, so it’s all about trying to figure out what she’s comfortable with and inspiring her to make more progress.
Jake thought he was doing a good deed, but when he starts to find he is attracted to Nina, he doesn’t know what to do. He wanted to help her and truly wanted to see her get over all of the hang ups that she has been suffering with all this time. But when he starts to fall for her– and fall hard– he doesn’t have any idea what he should do next.
Nina could never have any idea that this guy has been going through a really tough time. Locked into his own private world, Jake has been doing what he can to just get through the days. When he delivers a bombshell that rocks all of their worlds, will they be able to get through it all and still have their love?
This story is told by both Jake and Nina as they share their own point of view. As the story goes on, the reader finds out whether they are going to be together or if they are going to stay apart for good. This novel is a stand alone story but serves as a companion to “Gemini”, the novel.
Jake Understood is the second novel in the Jake series by talented author Penelope Ward. Check out the sequel and the exciting second installment on a fiction series full of romance and drama!
This book tells Jake’s side of the story. He knew that he was getting a roommate to live with, but didn’t think anything of that until she walked in. The second that he saw her, he knew that he was in trouble.
Nina seemed innocent enough, and this girl was just his type. Sure, they were total opposites. But they say that opposites attract. The two of them were just not that compatible at first glance, but the girl next door meeting the bad boy has made sparks fly more than once before.
This engineer has ink and is pierced, and is just her type. He agrees that he’ll tutor Nina and help her learn math and get over her fears. But when he falls for her, all bets are off. Will he scare her away with his secret of his double life? Read this book to find out!
