Patricia Johns is a Canadian author of fiction. She was born in Canada and writes in Alberta, where she happily resides along with her husband and their son. Johns attended the University of Toronto, where she graduated and received her Honors BA in the area of English literature.
Patricia Johns is the originator and writer of the Hope, Montana series. The series kicked off in 2016 with the release of the debut novel, Safe in the Lawman’s Arms. A sequel came out a short time later in 2016 that is titled Her Stubborn Cowboy. The series continued, with the third book being released the same year too. It is titled The Cowboy’s Christmas Bride. The seventh book came out in 2017 and is called Montana Mistletoe Baby. Some of the books were coauthored by Debbie Macomber.
Safe in the Lawman’s Arms is the debut novel in the Hope, Montana series by Patricia John. The lawman in question here is the main character. Mike Cruise loves his job working as a sheriff in Montana. He never really saw himself being a father before and never thought that he would be the type to be a family man. But suddenly Mike finds himself questioning everything when he unexpectedly gains temporary custody of a young child.
Mike is the last person that he would ever expect to be a dad, but what can you do? He’s got to step up to the plate and change to become the type of person that can take care of a toddler. The sheriff is faced with the challenge of learning how to be a dad virtually overnight. It’s pretty safe to say that Mike is in over his head, but luckily, he’s the type of stand-up guy that you would want to take on this type of gig.
Even though Mike is certainly out of his element, he has some help. He’s hired a new nanny to help him out with the toddler. Malory Smythe is sweet and gentle– the perfect person to help him learn how to be a father figure and take care of a child. Malory seems like a natural addition to the family and Mike is having a hard time remembering a time when she wasn’t there.
With her help, he’s starting to believe that he has the ability to make a new family for this child. It’s all too perfect to last, and Mike knows that, but for a time it’s nice feeling like they’re all in this together. But Malory herself has a past that is checkered with betrayal and sorrow– a past that might not lend itself to easily starting up a new family or even letting a man in.
Malory has been through the wringer when it comes to her personal life. She thought once she got pregnant her ex and herself would be able to form the perfect life together. But that was before he cheated on her and left her alone with her child forming and no one to take care of either of them. As a result, she’s got a lot of baggage and a hole in her heart– not to mention trust issues when it comes to relationships.
If you can’t trust the man who got you pregnant to take care of you, can you trust anyone to do it again? Malory knows that Mike is just the type of man that she needs in her life– strong and protective of her. But when it comes to love, the mistakes of her past continue to haunt her.
When the family that they have formed together comes under threat, will Mike and Malory be forced apart? Or will the challenges that they face bring them even closer together? You will just have to pick up this debut novel in Patricia Johns’ series to find out!
Her Stubborn Cowboy is the second novel and the sequel to Safe in the Lawman’s Arms. It is the second in the fictional romance series by acclaimed author Patricia John. This book picks up with a totally different set of characters and the challenges they face. They do live in Montana, keeping the theme of the series going strong!
Mackenzie Vaughn is a young woman that has a complicated romantic past. Yet, when she inherits some land unexpectedly, it seems like the perfect place to start again. The ranch in Montana is a chance for Mackenzie to do something new and take on new challenges. She is determined to find out how she can run a ranch all on her own.
This may mean being open to new things and not being afraid to get dirty. It may even mean that she requires the help of Chet Granger. That’s where things get complicated. Years ago, Mackenzie was dating Chet’s younger brother. It was a long time ago, but Chet helped to break the relationship up for good. Mack doesn’t want to have to deal with remembering that situation and her broken heart.
Chet is handsome but serious, and Mack needs his help to take on this ranch. Even though they have a past, Mack might just have to swallow her pride and accept some assistance from the last person on Earth she wants to ask for help.
For his part, Chet knows that Mackenzie is someone that he can never be with. He’s always had a crush on this spunky, gorgeous girl with a wild spirit. But he can never do anything, because he knows that his brother would always hold it against him.
Chet knows that it’s a bad idea, but he can’t help feeling butterflies whenever he’s around her. He doesn’t want to alienate his brother, and Chet is the type of guy that honors his family. But as his feelings go stronger, he’s finding that they’re getting increasingly difficult to ignore.
Chet’s heart is telling him one thing and his brain is telling him another. With a big choice to make, Chet must figure out what he is going to do. Can he risk everything in his pursuit of Mack? Have recently purchased and read some of your Amish novels…. I Love them.
Since I am in my late 70’s I only read Amish books now because I can count on them always being engaging, funny, and 99.9% clean! There is only 1 author that I will never buy again, but have bookcases full of other authors’ Amish stories!
I bought the Preachers Daughter from someone, so I am looking for the Preachers Son, now, so I can read them “in order”.
Anyway, in this crazy, mixed up, toxic world that we are living in it is fun to just escape and read novels!
