Opal Crew is a Canadian author of dozens of books in the romance genre. Her books have a positive outlook on the world of love with each story offering hope, success and love to the readers as well as the characters within the story. Her characters have been praised for their realistic nature and being the type of characters that readers can empathize with and relate.

While the novels deal with romance and sex, these aren’t the types of characters who will just jump into bed with any guy for no reason. Their romances are often exciting and exotice which then forces the female protagonists to push themselves to places they’ve never been before and grow as people. Pushing past fear to find love is a key element in her writing and what keeps readers coming back to her work.

Prior to writing erotic romance novels, Opal worked writing science fiction stories that ranged from everything to the paranormal to urban fantasy to futuristic settings. These earlier works of hers as published as Amber Carew.

Opal wasn’t always a writer though. In her early life she graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in mathematics. She used that to degree to work as a software analyst for fifteen years. During that time she met a loving and supportive husband who she had two sons with. After working so long as a software analyst, Opal finally turned to her passion for writing and started pursuing that. Dozens of books later, that seems like a smart move.

When she’s not writing novels, Opal enjoys spending time with her five cats, nail polish, Manga artwork, the occult, dragons, crystals, Zentangle and nail polish. If it glitters, it’s right up her alley.

Opal Carew’s books have placed or been nominated for many awards over the years.

Secret Ties won the Colorado Romance Writer’s Award of Excellence in 2010 while Forbidden Heat won the 2010 Golden Leaf Award. In 2011, her winning ways continued as Pleasure Bound was the winner of the HOLT Medallion Award of Merit.

The year 2013 saw more awards as Insatiable won the National Readers Choice Award in the Erotic Romance category.

Hard Ride won two awards in 2016 at the Erotic Romance Awards as it took home the Golden Quill and the Golden Leaf.

In addition, many of her books have places on the New York Times Bestseller List, the USA Today bestseller list and Amazon.com’s rankings of bestsellers.

Overall, she is a four-time Golden Quill winner, a two-time Golden Leaf Winners, a two-time National Readers’ Choice Award winner as well as a CRA Award of Excellence winner and a Silken Sands award winner.

Best Opal Carew Books:

Forbidden Mate: This is the first book in the Abducted series and it is quite the hot one. The book starts with Aria, a girl who was raised in the forster home and never knew what it was like to have. She works hard, but she has no real friends. Acquaintances, but nothing real.

When she wins a trip to a luxury resort, she’s looking forward to the getaway and hopes to meet a nice man as it has been a long time since she has been with someone.

The getaway turns out to be much more than she bargained for though as the resort ends up being out of this world, literally! Aliens abduct her and she finds herself becoming attracted to one of her alien abductors. This is forbidden as she is promised to an alien king. Where the story goes next will keep the pages turning. This is unlike any alien abduction story you’ve ever read and the story gets hotter and hotter as it goes on.

Stepbrother, Mine: This one started as a serial, but was then collected into a full length novel.

This book follows Dana who always thought that things would go exactly how she planned. When her father dies during her last year of college and her stepmother cuts her off, she makes a drastic decision to get money: she decides to auction off her virginity.

The head of a corporate empire and used to getting what he wants, stepbrother Mason might be the right person to help her get what she wants. That’s because there’s something that he wants, something he’s wanted for a long time: her. Will they be able to get each other what they want or will it turn into something more?

Dirty Talk: Sonny is a woman with a past. A past that involves a horrible trauma that has left her terrified of men and thus alone from the companionship one gets with a man. Thankfully, there is the internet where she finds a sensual audio recording of a man’s voice that takes her to places she’d be terrified to go with a man in real life. It’s not a relationship, but her connection to this voice is the closest to a sexual relationship she’s had in a long time.

While still being terrified of men and only really interacting with this audio file online, she feels an overwhelming attraction to her new neighbor, Tal. He’s a big, scary looking tattooed badass and he senses something in her that attracts him as well. When they finally meet she realizes that she knows him, his voice at least, as he’s the man from the audio recording online. No longer terrified of this man, she still finds it hard to face him.

Tal finds himself deeply attracted to her and confronts her about the way she has ignored him since he moved in. Her revelation to him about how she knows him and the effect it’s had on her life, shocks him and draws them closer together. Will she be able to get over her past trauma and move forward with Tal?
