Olivia Gaines is an Emma Award, USA Today, and multiple award-winning novelist that has asserted that she is always up for a good laugh when it is combined with a good plot in which a man and woman go beyond I love You and have some steamy moments.
Over the years, she has become known for writing heartwarming contemporary romances of blossoming relationships full of humor and heart.
Gaines made her debut when she published “A Few More Nights,” the first novel of the “Slice of Life” series of novels in 2013. Gaines now has more than 5 dozen novels to her name across several series, novellas, contributions to series by other authors, collections of short stories, and single-standing titles.
When she is not penning her fiction, she can usually be found playing online Scrabble, quilting, and spending quality time with family. She is also quite the avid traveler and has been all over the world to locations that sometimes become the settings of her stories.
However, she spends much of her time with paper and pen plotting more romantic adventures. He currently makes her home in Hephzbah, Georgia where she lives with her son and husband and Katness Evermean their snotty cat.
Like many authors, Olivia Gaines began writing at a very young age. When she was just nine years old, she began penning mini-adventures about a character named Penny that she used to read to her friends.
As an elementary school student, she founded a school paper, and throughout college and high school, she used to write for the school paper. Later on, while serving in the Army Reserves, Gaines was also involved in writing for the organization.
She would then become a journalist just so that she would get to write for a living. As such, she has been writing novels her entire life and always considered herself a storyteller. Nonetheless, she has also dabbled in many careers over the years and she does not believe any one career would fit what she deems herself to be.
Still, writing is something that she always desired to do and in 1996, she penned Loving Words her first ever manuscript while she was living in Ft. Huachuca in Arizona. With nothing to do, she started to pen the story of a reclusive romance author named Alfred and ultimately shelved it.
It was not until she had panned several more novels that she came back to the story reworked the kinks using the skillsets she had acquired and then published in 2014.
As for her inspiration, Gaines has said that her first introduction to fiction and favorite childhood novel was E.L. Konigsburg’s “From the Mixed Up Files of Ms. Basil E. Tutweiler.” She was also influenced a lot by Maya Angelou’s “Why the Caged Bird Sings” and novels such as “Getting Merry Like Christmas” and Swinging & Swinging.
Olivia Gaines has said that she pens novels about women and for women who are on journeys toward love. All she wants is for her readers to understand that love does not always come in the package they expect.
Given everyone’s different realities, this is something that she expands upon and brings to her readers.
“North to Alaska” by Olivia Gaines is the story of Amanda a woman that is left all alone in the world following the death of her beloved aunt. The devastating loss had left her the town’s sole black person and there is nothing she wants more than leave her hometown.
She intends to head to a remote Alaskan town and start a new life and proceeds to board trains and planes to get there. But once she gets there, she realizes that the man to who she was engaged to be married was a total fraud.
Her future husband sends his friend Riley to bring her to him. This should have been a major red flag for Amanda given that her husband thinks so little of her that he could not meet her at the bus stop and instead sent someone else citing car trouble.
When they finally met, she almost immediately realized that the man was nothing like the beautiful letters he used to send. Moreover, he does not seem intent on marrying her and wants to have sex with her in a crud-filled cabin before tossing her aside.
After punching and smacking her for rejecting him, he heads out to deal with an angry bear and things go badly. This is where things get really interesting.
Olivia Gaines’ novel “Montana” is the story of Pecola Peters who finds herself in a courtroom in the middle of Montana. Because of two ugly women, she finds herself getting married to a thick black-haired, kind-eyed, and burly rancher.
She is a romance fiction author who always crave love but then she found that writing novels from her home in Brooklyn was no longer doing it for her. Feeling stuck in a rut and desperate for change, she had been eavesdropping on two ugly women who had been engaged in reckless talk about her latest work.
She decided to take the plunge and the following day she was signing up for a husband on the local mail-order bride service. The rancher is a former professor that had quit academia to go to Montana to take over the family ranch.
He loved living in rural Montana but needed a companion that was a match for his literary mind. He had painstakingly trawled through the list provided to him by the mail order service and finally settled on Pecola.
It makes for a charming story even though it had its ups and downs that threaten to derail everything even before it got underway.
“Wyoming Nights” by Olivia Gaines is the riotous story of Darlene and Daniel who tickle the funny bone and delight the heart.
Darlene lost her entire family including her son-in-law, grandkids, daughter, son, and husband to a terrible car accident. Losing herself she mourned for several long years and left her legal career in tatters.
Finally, she had taken a leap of faith and registered for a mail-order service. She had gone on three meetings that were duds and finally landed on her stud on the fourth attempt. Her prospective husband is a park ranger named Daniel who makes his home in a cabin in Wyoming that he constructed with his own hands.
He is a father to a grown son and had been divorced by a Hollywood starlet. He is now looking for a woman to support his dream of one day running a general store and sharing his love of nature.
Darlene does not look like she would fit the profile since she lives in a nice community with a 5500 square foot house, has fancy cars wears designer clothes, and is very wealthy. However, she is a woman of many surprises and there is nothing she would love better than starting over.
