I hope everyone had a good reading month in November.
Mine was fair. I’m happy with what I read, although I still wish I could get more time in to read. Hopefully switch that up shortly due to a few adjustments to my life, and my time.
Here’s what I read in October 2024:
Edge of Darkness by Kyla Stone: The two stories Kyla has set up in the prior two books are now weaving together. This is a fun survivalist series which deals with two people trying to get to a particular destination, and a community and the pitfalls surrounding that. Well worth reading.
The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden: Swing and a BIG miss for me. Freida’s latest novel featured very unrealistic characters, as well as stupid characters and I did not enjoy it at all.
Gunmetal Gray by Mark Greaney: I’m re-reading the Gray Man series slowly. An excellent outing for the Gray Man.
The Waiting by Michael Connelly: A ‘Bosch and Ballard’ novel. However it was a lot more of Maddie Bosch than Harry Bosch. Not a bad thing – Harry is slowly getting moved out you can tell. Still an excellent outing by Connelly as per usual, although I took 1 off the score as I find it weird when characters deal with and solve real life murders.
In Too Deep by Andrew Child: The first Reacher novel written solely by Andrew. I generally enjoyed it. It was Reacher. It felt like Reacher. Wasn’t a fan of the action scenes, but I liked the story and a twist I never saw coming. I know Andrew is polarizing, but to me Reacher is in solid hands.
If Something Happens To Me by Alex Finlay: Listened to this one. Well, finished listing it. It caught me off guard with a big twist. The ending I thought was quite poor, but the rest of the book was worth it.
Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister: Listened to this one. A woman witnesses murder outside her house, and it’s to do with her son. Then she keeps going back in time, with the belief that she has to do something to stop the murder from occurring.
Very good book. I always love this style of book. The narrator, Lesley Sharp, did an fantastic job too. If you both read and listen to books, I’d recommend the latter for this one.
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: The story of this one is that a woman decides to give up on her life. Then she ends up in a library with all different books – and the books mark a different decision she made in life, and she can enter that life to see how things would have played out.
This one had a LOT of hype. My guess is people who felt that way haven’t read many books within this genre. Not that it was a bad book or anything – I enjoyed it, and the 9 hours listening was well worth it. Just didn’t think it was groundbreaking at all. Still worth a read though.

These are really good reviews, but you could leave out the ones you didn’t like instead of adding them.
