Early and Personal Life
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Nick Eliopulos would grow up heavily interested in comic-books and literature in general. Much of this would also see him reading many books on alien-abductions and the paranormal, an interest that would continue into adulthood. Attending the University of Florida, he would continue to develop his reading tastes and interests, as he would gain a degree in cultural studies.
Over time he would also turn to writing himself, as he would begin to find a style and unique approach all of his own. Starting out as a children’s book editor, he would gain a unique insight into the craft of writing for younger readers, while working with numerous licensed properties. Now living in Brooklyn with his husband who’s also an editor and author, he continues to write regularly with more to follow.
Writing Career
Beginning his career back in 2007, Nick Eliopulos would write his debut novel with his best friend and fellow writer Zack Loran Clark. This book would be titled ‘The Adventurer’s Guild’ and it would be a children’s fantasy novel arriving in the month of October that year. Published through Hyperion, it would also make way for a series of the same name, as more children’s fantasy books would follow.
In time Nick would come to write for licensed properties too, such as for the video-game Minecraft, setting it both in the gaming arena and in real-life. This series titled ‘Minecraft Woodsword Chronicles’ would also prove to be massively popular, reaching a young audience worldwide. Gaining huge amounts of critical acclaim for his writing, he continues writing regularly maintaining a presence both online and off.
Night of Dangers
First brought out back in 2019, this would originally come out on the 17th of December through the ‘Little, Brown Books for Young Readers’ publishing label. Continuing on from the previous books, it manages to deliver on the last two titles, this being the third book in ‘The Adventurer’s Guild’ series. Written alongside Zack Loran Clark, this is best read in order, as it carries on previous character arcs and narrative strands.
Following their defeat of the elves repelling them from their home, the Adventurer’s Guild find some temporary reprieve from the Freestoners’. Then, one fateful day, a Danger happens to infiltrate the city, leaving over a dozen dead in the wake of its deadly path, as the city faces a new terror. Now the adventurer’s must come together once more, as they hope to prevent the Day of Dangers from occurring ever again. Will they manage to prevent this calamity from happening, can they hold back the danger and what will become of the Night of Dangers?
This book is an easy-going read that’s engaging for younger readers, whilst also drawing in an older audience as well. There’s plenty of exciting twists and turns featured throughout, in what is a positive and entertaining story with a lot to offer. Finishing the series with both style and wit, it’s a fun story, and a must for not only fans of the author, but of the fantasy genre as a whole.
Dungeon Crawl!
This time published through the ‘Random House Books for Young Readers’ publishing house, this would first come out in 2020 on the 7th of July. Marking the fifth title in the ongoing ‘Minecraft Woodsword Chronicles’ series of books, this would continue with another exciting adventure. A children’s fantasy novel based on the popular video-game Minecraft, this would use the game as the setting for its story.
Tracking down the Evoker King, Morgan, Po, and three fellow Minecraft players have found themselves within his perilous dungeon. Gearing up, they hope to take on numerous dragons and hostile mobs, as they seek their final goal facing the danger before them. Meanwhile, in real-life, Po and friends have a school play to deal with that also seems to be beset with many traps and troubles of its own. Will they be able to navigate all the dangers together, can they manage it all, and what will become of their dungeon crawl?
Using the ever popular video-game of Minecraft as the basis for its action, this book really makes the most of it, doing something quite different in the process. Paving the way for more to come as well, it’s best that the series is read in order to get the most from it, as the characters and the world develops. Easy to read, it’s instantly accessible for younger readers, making it a great book for those learning to read for the first time.
