About Nick Cole
The American author Nick Cole is well-known for his extremely exciting and intelligent thriller action-packed novels. Pushing the envelope on consecutive occasions, he’s hugely successful in entertaining the reader, while saying just what it is that he wants to say. Constantly pushing the boundaries of the formula, he’s created a number of enormously popular series over the course of his career. Allowing his work to speak for itself essentially, it really manages to come alive on the page for reader, immersing them in the process.
Pacing his work and narratives with an expert sense of momentum, he really knows how to keep the reader turning the page. Always anticipating what’s coming next, he knows how to hold them on the edge of their seat, continually wanting more. Over the years, he’s perfected his craft, all the while saying something important through his writing, providing a clear message. With his naturalistic style of writing, the words flow easily on the page, making all of his stories accessible for audiences worldwide.
Another key aspect of Cole’s literary style is his characterizations, as he creates wholly believable personalities and protagonists. Bringing the story to life with fully three-dimensional personalities, he populates his stories with grounded characters that really leap off the page. Making an impact, they stay with the reader long after they’ve finished the book, making a powerful impression on them. With lots more to follow in the future too, his writing career grows from strength to strength, as his audience continues to grow every day.
Early and Personal Life
Always interested in literature from an early age, Nick Cole would develop his craft, on into his adult life as a full-time novelist. Drawing inspiration from his own life, he would put much of it back into his work, providing it with a real sense of authenticity. Working as an actor in Southern California as well, he would apply his craft to his writing, giving it a genuine sense of character.
Previously a soldier, he would have a wealth of experience to help inspire his writing, creating books that felt wholly real. Often auditioning for commercials, he’s no stranger to action scenes, something which also informs his writing greatly. Currently living in Southern California to this very day, he still has a lot more to come, as he isn’t finishing writing any time soon.
Writing Career
Publishing his first novel back in 2011, Nick Cole would make his literary debut with the book ‘The Old Man and the Wasteland.’ This novella would also become the first in his series ‘The Wasteland Saga,’ which would accompany other series such as ‘Soda Pop Soldier,’ and ‘WYRD’ to name just a few. Some series he would also write alongside fellow authors, including Michael Bunker, Jason Anspach, and Jonathan Yanez.
His writing has also been included in different collections over the years too, along with contributing to other series. Appreciated by critics and the general public, he’s become a hugely gifted novelist with a lot to say and offer. Maintaining a consistent profile both online and off, he has lots more planned upon the horizon, as he continues to speak on his craft.
The Old Man and the Wasteland
First arriving in 2011 through the ‘Lulu’ publishing imprint, this would provide a short post-apocalyptic science-fiction novella. It would also be the first in ‘The Wasteland Saga’ series of books, although it does stand apart as a self-contained story as well. Drawing from authors such as Cormac McCarthy and Ernest Hemingway, it’s an intelligent and well-written piece of science-fiction. Setting the tone for a lot of what was to come as well, this works in establishing and introducing what Nick Cole has to offer as an author.
Set forty years after the complete destruction of civilization, this sees humanity reduced to scavenging and salvaging the remnants of the previous broken world. In the possession of one man is the Hemingway classic ‘The Old Man and the Sea,’ as the words provide solace to the survivors. One survivor heads out across the unknown into the deserted wilderness in order to break a curse, as they must survive and endure against all odds. Will they seek what they’re looking for, can they possibly hope to survive, and what will become of the old man and the wasteland?
Combining action, drama, and pathos, this book really does have everything, operating on multiple different levels. Short and straight to the point, it wastes any time in saying precisely what it is that it really wants to say to the reader. It also paves the way for more to follow, in what is an excellent piece of world-building that really makes its audience think.
Pop Kult Warlord
Originally coming out in 2018 on the 4th of November, this would provide the second book in the ongoing ‘Soda Pop Soldier series. Following on from ‘Soda Pop Soldier in 2014, this would follow up with the third, offering another exciting adventure set in the same world. Building upon what came before, it’s best that they’re all read in order so as to get the most out of them all overall.
Fighting his way across Mars, PerfectQuestion returns in the online combat sports arena game WarWorld where mega-corporations fight for advertising space. Working as the online ringer for a corrupt dictatorship, PerfectQuestion tries not to lose his head in otherwise seductive lifestyle. Attempting to lead a rag-tag group of gaming jihadis to victory, he hopes to put a new Sultan on the throne for a five million gold wager. Will he be able to manage this victory, can he fight his way to the top, and what will finally become of the Pop Kult Warlord?
There’s lots of action here once again, making for an intoxicating mix of excitement and tension throughout the story. The book itself is well paced, providing some interesting messages underneath along the way, giving it a greater sense of depth. Crafting strong characters as well, everyone comes to life in this intriguing and compelling novel, making it ideal for both fans of the author and the genre as a whole.
