Mike Maden is a critically acclaimed author from America, who likes to write political thriller novels. He is particularly famous for writing the Troy Pearce book series. This series is also known as the Drone series. Author Maden was born in California, United States, and spent the initial years of his life working in the feed mills, slaughterhouses, and canneries in the San Jaoquin Valley in California. He says that he has a life-long fascination with warfare and history. This ultimately led him to pursue a Ph.D on the subject of political science. His main areas of focus as a political science student were technology and conflict in the international relations. Author Maden proudly says that he is a big fan of Tom Clancy, and just like his numerous other fans, he too became his die hard fan after reading his book called The Hunt for Red October. Soon after finishing the reading part of this book, author Maden started his own career in published fiction in the same genre of techno-thriller books. At first, Maden wrote the very successful Drone novel and then followed it up with the sequels known as Blue Warrior, Drone Threat, and Drone Command. He feels honored to have joined The Campus in the role of a writer in the Jack Ryan Jr series of Tom Clancy. Because of growing up in a the family of working class people, author Maden learned the importance of working and earning for oneself from a very early age.

After working for several odd jobs, Maden was briefly involved in working as a political consultant, media commentator, and campus lecturer. Following this author Maden got engaged in theology studies and spent a decade in working with a non-profit organization based in Dallas. It was during this time that Maden discovered his interest in fiction writing. He states that his first book, Drone, is the outcome of a challenge from a couple of his published friends about trying his hand at writing a novel. Recently, author Maden has started writing the continuation of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series and the book Point of Contact is his first one in this regard. In addition to writing political thriller books, author Maden has given lectures and acted as a consultant on the topics related to warfare in the Middle Eastern regions. He has even served as a manager during the campaigning of national and state elections. Author Maden feels proud for having gotten the opportunity to carry forward Tom Clancy’s legacy. When he got the call from the editor of the Jack Ryan series, informing him about his selection to write the next novel was the greatest day of Maden’s life. He could not have asked for anything more because he has always been a fan of Clancy and being able to continue his series is something that he could have only dreamed about. However, the greatest day immediately turned into a terrifying day because he realized that he will have to keep up with the standard of Tom Clancy and it seemed very difficult for Maden because it was obvious that he could not reach that level. But, the idea of being a part of the canon of Clancy along with a couple of other authors was very thrilling and this boosted the confidence of author Maden. Whenever Maden sits to develop a story, he first goes by carrying out a thorough research on the subject. He had developed this habit while studying in graduate school. At that time, he was very much addicted to politics, history, and war. And Maden has continued with these addictions throughout his whole life.

The Troy Pearce series written by Mike Maden consists of 4 books in total, which were released between the years 2013 and 2016. All the novels of this thriller series depict Troy Pearce in the main role. Pearce is described as the CEO of the Pearce Systems, which is a firm that provides private security. The firm deals with drone technologies and is considered the best of all. Being an ex SOG operative of CIA, Pearce is well trained in combat skills and uses his intelligence to bring down the sworn enemies of America in the Terror War. The first novel of this series is entitled ‘Drone’. It was released by the GP Putnam publication in the year 2013. At the start of this book’s story, it is shown that after several years of carrying out special operations, Troy Pearce decides to quit. A number of his friends were sacrificed because of political games. Therefore, Pearce decides to fight a different battle by deploying sea, air, and land drones to fight with surgical precision. After Margaret Myers wins the presidential election of America, her only child gets killed along with few other Americans in cross border assualt by several hit men of a drug cartel. Margaret hires Pearce systems to find and destroy the hitmen, who had taken shelter in Mexico. Troy Pearce forms a task force team and thrusts into a deadly fight to destroy the enemies of America hiding in its own land.

The next book of the series is called ‘Blue Warrior’. This book was also published by G.P Putnam publishers in 2014. Author Maden has set the story in a distant location in the Sahara Desert. At the beginning of the story of this book, it is depicted that the deposit of a strategically indispensable REEs is recently discovered, which ignites a rush on the international level for securing them. However, the takers find it difficult to approach the location of the elements’ discovery because of the Tuaregs. The Tuaregs are a tribe of fierce nomad warriors living in the wasteland of the desert. It is learned that this tribe is fighting for its independence and the warriors do not fear to die in order to achieve their independence. As the things seem to be going out of hand of the government of Mali because of the Tuareg rebellion, China comes forward to offer help. They agree to bring the rebellion down and ask for a help in gaining control of the area in return. Soon, the jihadis from Al-Qaeda also join in the fight. At the center of all the chaos, one of the closest friends of Troy Pearce finds herself stuck. This mysterious lady from the past life of Troy Pearce asks him to help her get out of the chaos as soon as possible. As soon as Pearce gets her message, he deploys a team of scientists and sets his task force in motion along with his recently manufactured high capacity drones. He takes all the steps necessary to save his friend and the rebellion. After a while in the rescue mission, Troy Pearce realizes that he might require something more than just technology to come out victorious in the battle. He also intends to root out the actual culprits responsible for the genocide of Tuaregs because of which this whole event has been taking place.
