Michael J. Sullivan is an American novelist of science fiction and epic fantasy, best known for his introduction series, The Riyria Revelations, which has been deciphered into fourteen dialects.

He has composed multiple series. The Riyria Revelations and The Riyria Chronicles were distributed by Orbit Books and The First Empire by Del Rey Books. The Riyria Revelations is a six-book epic fantasy series while the Riyria Chronicles is a continuous series that focuses on the early undertakings the two primary heroes of Riyria Revelations. The First Empire is an epic fantasy series set in the same world as the Riyria books, but in the inaccessible past, making it a standalone series.
