Michael Brandman is one of the acclaimed authors from America, who likes to write crime fiction books. He is particularly famous for contributing to the continuation of the Jesse Stone novel series after the death of author Robert B. Parker, who was the original writer of the series. Author Brandman wrote the last three books of this series from 2011 to 2013. In addition to being a popular author, he is also a producer of films and has worked on movie such as Monte Walsh, Jesse Stone : Stone Cole, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Author Brandman was selected to take over the series of Jesse Stone because he had worked with author Parker on more than a dozen movies before and was aware about his way of thinking and style of working. Author Brandman married the popular actress Joanna Miles and currently, the two live happily in California along with their 2 sons. Brandman started his writing career in the year 2011 with the release of his debut book titled killing the Blues. As a producer, he has won numerous awards after working on over 30 motion pictures. Brandman has said that the best phase of his producing career was when he was working alongside Robert Parker. He used to learn a new thing every day while working with him. Brandman produced three Spencer movies for A&E, for which Robert wrote the screenplay. The two also collaborated in producing the TV movies of Jesse Stone, which is still being broadcast on the CBS channel. All the books that author Brandman has written in the Jesse Stone series have gone on to become New York Times bestsellers. The motion pictures produced by him include the works by Arthur Miller, David Mamet, Stephen Sondheim, Tom Stoppard, Elmore Leonard, Neil Simon, Louis L’Armour, etc. With Tom Selleck, author Brandman has worked on a total of 9 Jesse Stone films, looking after the departments of both writing and production. Currently, he is working on getting his new book published, which is titled as ‘Missing Persons’. This book is expected to be published in the month of September in 2017 and will mark the debut of the original books written by Brandman. He says that he is looking forward to the reviews from the critics and the readers towards the book that is originally written by him.

The Jesse Stone book series features the chief protagonist as the fictional character named Jesse Stone. He is described as a former LAPD copper, who decides to move to a small town called Paradise after being forced to leave the job. During the opening sequences of the series, Jesse Stone is shown as a 35 year old man. He was brought up in California and Arizona. Stone is a former baseball player who played for minor league. His career did not flourish due to a shoulder injury. While working as a Homicide detective for LAPD, Stone developed the habit of excessive drinking, which was a result of the divorce that his wife, Jennifer, gave him. And because of this drinking problem, Stone had to lose his job. He even shows up drunk for the interview for a police chief job in Paradise. However, the town’s corrupt president hires him thinking that he will be able to control him easily. Stone realizes that the town is full of crime and corruption and that his job is going to be even more difficult than his expectation. The series progresses with the depiction of Stone’s struggle to solve the criminal cases as police chief, his complicated life and relationship with Jennifer, and his struggle with alcohol.

One of the three books written by Michael Brandman in the Jesse Stone series is entitled ‘Fool Me Twice’. It was released in 2012 by the Random House publication. Author Brandman has set the story in Massachusetts, the United States. At the start of the book, it is shown that autumn has arrived in the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts. Usually, it is idyllic situation in Paradise during autumns, however, this year it appears to be different. A movie company from Hollywood has arrived in the town and has brought a huge crowd full of crew members, casts, etc., with it. The cast also includes a troubled actress named Marisol Hinton. She is introduced as a beautiful and reasonably talented actress. Marisol in scared that the jealousy of her estranged husband might cause a great problem to her successful acting career and can result in a dangerous outcome. Soon, Marisol receives death threats and when she complains to the town’s police department, the whole department, including Jesse Stone, become alert. Later, Jesse sees a horrible collision involving a teenage driver. And when he arrests the teenage driver, political repercussions arise which make him enter into a conflict with the DA, a local selectman, and some powerful people of the town. This is followed by a murder in the town, which puts the life and career of Jesse Stone on the line. He is already not seen as not being able to defend the law effectively. Now, he is required to solve the cases as soon as possible and safeguard his reputation.

The next book written by Brandman in this series is known by the name ‘Dammed If You Do’. It was published by the GP Putnam publication in the year 2013. This book too is set in Massachusetts and features Jesse Stone as the main lead. At the beginning of the story of this book, a young woman is shown lying dead on her bed. She appeared to be in her late teens and was beautiful enough like a normal girl. The discovery of her dead body from a beachfront motel seemed very shocking. Jesse Stone is asked to look into the case and solve it quickly. The main problem that Jesse Stone is to establish the identity of the dead woman as he does not know anything about her. Also, nothing is found from her room which could help him to find out who she was. One thing that Jess Stone knows for sure is that whoever he woman was, she should not have died like this. And as he starts digging, he comes across important clues that take him to the gruesome world of escort services. Soon, Jesse Stone finds himself caught up in a deadly turf war among a couple of ruthless pimps. Jesse knows that more blood is going to get spilled before he is able to solve the case. He tries to prevent anything like this from happening and moves ahead to find evidences relating to the murder of the young woman. Jesse realizes that it has become very important for him to catch the culprit to bring back peace in the town.
