Author Melanie D. Snitker has enjoyed writing fiction for as long as she can remember. She began creating episodes of cartoon series that she wanted to see as a child, and her love of writing only grew from there.

Melanie and her husband live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with their two kids, both of whom keep their lives filled with adventure. They share their home with a guinea pig, two dogs, and a combination of toads, lizards, and frogs.

During Melanie’s spare time, she enjoys crochet, photography, hanging out with friends and family, reading, baking, and crochet.

Melanie loves writing because it gives her the opportunity to share stories which are close to her own heart with other people. She can also write while at home around her daily schedule of being a wife and mother.

She has an entire backlog of story ideas that are stored in her head. However when she is stuck on how to get one down onto the page, reading often helps with that. It relaxes her brain while allowing her run through different scenarios at the same time.

This is how she deals with writer’s block, too. She’ll read some of her favorite books that she’s previously read. Sometimes she just has to sit down and power through it. Melanie read somewhere that, even if you write something down that isn’t very good, it can be fixed later on. Which is much better than not writing anything at all.

Melanie came up with the general idea for “Finding Courage” a few years before writing it down, and kept it on the back burner. Immediately when she introduced Avalon in “Finding Hope”, she just knew that it had to be her story. She wanted to take a marriage that was not doing well and focus on how love and romance could be rekindled in such a situation. She wanted to show just how a couple could decide together to give love another chance.

“Finding Peace” is the first novel in the “Love’s Compass” series and was released in 2014. Tuck is determined to keep Laurie safe, even if he will have to risk his own heart in the process.

Police Officer Tuck Chandler works hard in order to keep the citizens of Kitner, Texas safe. He is also good at keeping women at arm’s length. Jilted by his fiancee due to his dedication to his work, he is not about to open himself up to hurt like that ever again.

Laurie Blake is a struggling photographer. After she grew up in a wealthy family, she is bound and determined to make it all on her own, even if she has to do it the hard way.

Tuck is assigned to this puzzling burglary that involves Laurie’s fledgling photography business, he goes into it with his typical perseverance. He would like to help her out, if she would allow him to. While the case plays out and the mystery continues to deepen, one more question pops up. Are their pasts going to get in the way of a future together?

Readers enjoyed the setting, which has all the cozy, small town feels. The writing style is good, and hooks you in pretty quick. But the characters really shine in this though. Tuck was a very nice guy, and some identified with his fear of rejection and moving on. Laurie was enjoyable and sweet, and they each make for a great pair.

“Finding Hope” is the second novel in the “Love’s Compass” series and was released in 2015. Lance avoided telling Lexi how he felt, for years, but he’s not about to waste another minute, now.

“Safe in His Arms” is the first novel in the “Life Unexpected” series and was released in 2016. She is determined to escape from her past. While he is looking to build a future, with her. Is she going to open up her heart and let him help, or continue running alone?
