Author Lynne Connolly was born Leicester, England; she lived with her sister and parents in their cobbler’s shop. She would not find out until she left, but her uncle actually hung himself in their living room in the old and definitely haunted house. They believe their ghost is much older than that.
Their house was built on what used to be a Roman cemetery, and it was land that was always lived in, seeing as it was in the center of the town. The council went and bought their house from them, so they could build a road, and her grandfather retired from his post.
Her father got a job working with the Post Office, and her mother worked as a sample machinist. This job entails her working with different designers on some prototypes (either samples or models) of garments. This allowed Lynne to be well dressed. Her mother was quite happy when they bought a modern home, located in the country.
On her mother’s side, she has a lot of Romany gypsies, but they do not have any of the beautiful old trailers. She was taught to read Tarot, and she uses two packs mostly: Crowley Thoth (for the complicated readings) and Rider pack (for more simple stuff).
She writes paranormal and contemporary romance novels under the name of L. M. Connolly and under the name Lynne Connolly she writes sensuous historical romances.
Lynne has always been interested in the paranormal, and she is delighted to be able to incorporate some of that into her work. She also likes the historical, particularly the Georgian and Tudor eras, but she likes pretty much all eras of history.
“Rogue in Red Velvet” is the first novel in the “Emperors of London” series and was released in the year 2014. If Connie falls from her position in society, she could lose it all, except for Alex.
Constance Rattigan (a country widow) is in a brothel in London, rather than at the altar like she should be, there is only one person that can help keep her from the auction block. Alex Vernon left Connie once when he found out about her engagement to another man. Now that her fiance went and betrayed her, Lord Ripley will not leave her again. Connie has other plans, they will not marry until she can clear her name.
Alex plans on making her wishes come true, but it will not be that easy. And that is even with the help of the Emperors of London, which are his powerful relatives.
Some are glad they finally picked up a book by Lynne Connolly, as they loved this story, the characters (who each had chemistry with each other), and they did not want it to end. Fans of the novel found this to be well written, and full of details, taking readers back to this time and place. This is a nice breath of fresh air from what usually happens in these types of books.
“Temptation Has Green Eyes” is the second novel in the “Emperors of London” series and was released in the year 2015. Sophia Russell is a wealthy merchant’s daughter, and has little interest in marriage. This is made worse by the recent humiliation she suffered; Sophia really does not want to marry Maximilian, the Marquess of Devereaux. It is the only way to protect herself from fortune hunters, as well as those that want to take a powerful connection, one that she wants to keep a secret. Even from the man that she will marry.
The only way that Max can get the wealth his dad spent on a luxurious palace in the country. The marriage Max and his bride have is obviously one of convenience, even though the pair are civil towards one another. That is, until an enemy of the family starts taking a questionable interest in Sophia, it could just lead the entire way to the throne. They have to become allies to fight a battle they did not plan on fighting. They find a love, a passion, which they also did not ever expect.
Fans of the novel found Lynne does a great job in making things as historically accurate as possible. Readers were pulled into this book, and felt the need to buy the first one of this series. Some enjoyed the first two books, and cannot wait to get their hands on more of these great stories. Some felt that this is an interesting take on the story of Jacobites, and is something that could have actually happened in real life, as James Stuart did father illegitimate kids.
“Danger Wears White” is the third novel in the “Emperors of London” series and was released in the year 2015. Imogen just wants to live a quiet life out in the country, that is all; she hopes she can live down the connection her family has to the traitors of the Jacobite cause. She finds a wounded man, she notices that there is white cockade in the coat he wears, and that tells her he is with the Jacobites. Mainly, it means that he represents a danger to the crown. At the same time, there is just something that she cannot resist about him.
Tony is shot and left to die while on a search to find a document for his powerful family. He is held in a hidden chamber, and is both a guest and captive of a puzzling and gorgeous woman. He does not know who she works for or even what she wants. He does realize there is a strong desire that burns in both of them. Neither one will be free from it, until their lust is cured.
The action moves over to London, and Tony then has to work to save Imogen. She is forced to be a lady in waiting to Princess Amelia, and then Imogen comes into peril from Jacobites. They somehow believe that she is their only salvation. The strength of Imogen and Tony’s love will be able to save them at this point.
Fans of the novel found that Lynne is just about the only writer writing about the Georgian era, and she does a great job at it. Some like the way that in Lynne’s work, there is a lot more than just the romance, as there is a lot of plot going on.
