Main character Lizzie remembers her first love, Roman. Now she’s just gotten a letter in the mail from him. The only problem with this scenario is that Roman’s been missing. He has been for twelve years.
Lizzie James is very content in life. She has every reason to be. She has a great job at the office, and has a continuous stream of tray bakes. She has a great best friend, the same one that she has always had ever since secondary school.
Lizzie is also able to see her family each Thursday night, the time when they eat takeout food and watch television together. She would prefer not to see some of her family members, and after something that happened way back in the day, she knows that a lot of them would not want to see her.
But considering everything, Lizzie is pretty happy. She’s pretty sure that she’s close to being happy, regardless. She’s then thrown for a total loop when a letter comes from Roman– one that is dated to twelve years ago. To the exact day that Roman first went missing.
The letter is bringing details of the past back, and many painful memories. Lizzie had to attend a new school when she was sick in the past. She lost Hubble, her granddad. She lost her first love.
Lizzie starts looking into the letter and seeing if she can uncover its secrets. Only then might she be able to find out what happened that year– the same year that her life suddenly fell apart. She knows one thing is for certain, however: all roads lead back to Rome. Now she’s just got to find out who it is that sent her the letter, as well as find out what happened to Roman in the process if she can.
