The Last True Vampire series is a popular sensual and emotional series written by one of the well known American authors named Kate Baxter. This series is based on the fantasy, romance, and paranormal genres. There is a total of 4 novels and 1 novella in this series, which were released between the years 2015 and 2016. Each of the books introduces a different pair of central characters, who are depicted as vampires and indulge in sensual romance with each other as the stories progress. The books are mainly set in Los Angeles.

The debut novel of the Last True Vampire series written by author Kate Baxter was released under the same name as the series. It was released by the St. Martin’s publication in the year 2015. Author Baxter has described the lead characters in this fantasy book are Michael Aristov and Claire Thompson. In the story, author Baxter has shown that as Michael Aristov’s eyes fall on Claire Thompson standing around 20 feet from him, he becomes certain that it was the scent of Thompson because of which he was awakened and her blood that made him reach to her. As a mortal of the opposite sex, Claire Thompson had tethered the soul of Michael Aristov and returned it back to him. At the beginning of the series, Michael is introduced as the last surviving vampire of his race. He is regarded as the true king of his pack of vampires. Michael roams around the nightclubs of Los Angeles during the night to pacify his hunger. He appears to be haunted by the events in his past life, which make him crave for fulfilling his hunger. A vampire belonging to the Ancient Ones, Michael Aristov is the last one living after his race was destroyed by the slayers. Being a lonely vampire, Michael is now forced to live, hunt, and feed himself as a common vampire. And the thing that he craves mostly for, as a creature, is lust. It seems that his needs could not be fulfilled by anything else in this world, except a woman who has all that he has ever wanted in his life, and even much more than that. Michael Aristov’s salvation comes in the form of Claire Thompson. Michael finds her blood as sweet and intoxicating, whose smell draws him towards her like a moth gets attracted towards a flame. Because of her sexy, sly, and seductive nature, Claire appears to be the only human who can satisfy the cravings of Michael and let his fate sealed forever. But, he wonders whether he should trust her. Right the from the first kiss that she indulges in with Michael, she gets swept into a different world filled with more danger than desire. Due to this, it seems that falling in love has become the greatest danger in the life of Claire Thompson.

One of the other famous books of the series is entitled ‘The Dark Vampire’. This book too was published by the St. Martin Press in 2016. Author Baxter has depicted the primary characters in the role of Eric Jenner and Bria Fairchild. Just like the previous books of the series, this book too deals with the salvation of a vampire race, which was destroyed many centuries ago. Jenner, who is the last vampire to have survived the destruction now looks to get over from the dark shadows of his haunted past. For several centuries, he has been plagued by it. Now that he has recently turned into a new vampire, he looks to roam during the nights as a wild predator. In spite of trying hard for all these years, he has not been able to satisfy the desires of his heart. However, his craving for satisfaction does not remain for too long as the arrival of a beautiful vampire in his life, sets things on fire between the two. From the day Jenner sees her, his heart begins to beat for her love and he wishes badly to make her a part of his life forever. The character sketch of Bria appears to similar to that of an innocent and pure girl. For the past few years, she has been running from a merciless enemy and hidden herself from the world for her whole life. The enemy seems very desperate to hunt down Bria. But, as the situation becomes perilous and Bria begins starts getting the feeling that her end is very near, a savior arrives in her life in the form of a protective and fearsome bodyguard, who is none other than Jenner.

On the occasion of one of the attacks on Bria on a fateful night, her protective vampire saves her again due to which a blazing connection gets sparked between the two. But, both Bria and Jenner begin to think that surrendering to the call of their powerful passion would mean that they will break free from the haunting shackles of their past lives. And as the war of the slayers against the vampires continues to become more and more savage, both of them are required to fight in order to survive. It is only after surviving the difficult times with bravery that they will be able to cherish each other’s passionate love in their lives. Also, the fate of the vampire race seems to depend on their survival. This makes it even more important for them to survive the war and defeat the demons of their pasts. According to author Baxter, this book’s story basically revolves around Eric Jenner. He has already shown a few of his glimpses in the previous books, but a major story based on his life is described in this novel. In the beginning itself, the readers get the impression that Eric Jenner is not typical vampire. He has just a few requirements for his life, which are specific. As for Bria Fairchild, she plays more of a secondary role in the story. She helps to fulfill the needs of Eric Jenner, thereby helping him to survive in this changing world. Bria has spent most of her life behind the locked doors of her uncle’s compounds. Her uncle knows it very well that she is being chased by a deadly enemy and therefore does not allow her to go out. But, he does not know that Bria makes her way out during the evenings in her own ways and indulges in sneaking around the town. Her search ends when she comes across Eric Jenner. In Jenner, she sees her protector, savior, and a lover. Jenner too begins to fall for Bria’s beauty. The two end up sharing a passionate relationship.
