She writes the “Peachtree Bluff” series, as well as some stand alone work. Her debut novel, called “Dear Carolina”, was released in the year 2015.
“Slightly South of Simple” is the first novel in the “Peachtree Bluff” series, and was released in the year 2017. Caroline Murphy swore that she would never once step foot back in Peachtree Bluff, the tiny Southern town; she was a New York girl born and raised. The worst day of her life was when, after her dad died, her mom selfishly forced to move, while she was a senior year of high school, back to that horrible hick-infested rat trap where she spent her summers when she was a child.
Now that her marriage to a New York high society heir has unraveled pubically and in very embarrassing fashion. A pregnant Caroline decides to flee from all the gossip mongers with her nine-year-old daughter goes back home to Ansley, her mom.
Ansley has put her three daughters first, particuarly after finding out that her deceased husband, despite what he always promised, left next to nothing for her. Ansley, who is the proud owner of a rather charming waterfront design business and now standing on her own two feet, welcomes Caroline and her family with open arms.
Sloane, her second daughter, whose military husband is stationed overseas, and successful actress and her youngest daughter named Emerson come to join the fray. This makes Ansley start feeling the piece of herself she finally thought was slipping away from her grasp.
Much more discomfiting, after somebody from her past pops back up in Ansley’s life. The secret she had been keeping from her kids and their whole lives could finally be pushed out into the open.
Kristy’s writing is easy and smooth and her characters quickly become friends of yours. She is a great storyteller and this novel is full of emotion, is compelling, and with a lot of humor. The novel is infused with life, love, joy, and tears with a bit of romance sprinkled throughout and a little dash of scandalous family secrets.
“The Secret to Southern Charm” is the second novel in the “Peachtree Bluff” series, and was released in the year 2018. After learning about her military husband has gone missing in action Sloane, the middle sister, finds that her whole world crumbles while her worst nightmare comes true. She is barely able to climb out of bed, much less be able to have enough strength to be the parent her kids deserve.
Ansley, her mom, provides a much-needed rest while she puts her personal life on hold to help out Sloane and her grandkids through their new grief-stricken lives. Between caring for her own aging mom, her grandkids, and her daughters, her private worry is that secrets from her past are going to come into the light.
When Emerson and Caroline, Sloane’s sisters, remind Sloane that no matter what, she promised her husband that she would carry on for their younger sons. Sloane locates the courage and support she needs to chase her biggest dreams, as well as her deepest fears. Taking a cue from her middle daughter, Ansley takes a leap of faith of her own and finds out that, after all of this time, she might be able to have it all, finally.
Kristy filled this novel with messages of love, some endearing characters, and the charm of some known locations. She writes a beautiful and compelling story and the novel is witty and warm. Readers found themselves riveted to each and every page and couldn’t put the book down the entire way through.
“The Southern Side of Paradise” is the third novel in the “Peachtree Bluff” series, and was released in the year 2019. With all three of her daughters happy and the guy of her dreams back in her life, Ansley Murphy should also be happy. She is unable to help but feel it is a bit too good to be true.
At the same time, Emerson (actress and the youngest daughter) and just got engaged and just got the role of a lifetime, appears to have the world by the tail. There is something she is unable she cannot quite put her finger on is worrying her, and has nothing to do with her own recent health scare.
A pair of new women show up in Peachtree Bluff, one that has the potential to ruin Ansley’s happiness. The other could tear Emerson’s entire world apart and everything is put into perspective. After secrets that were never meant to be told finally come out into the light, the powerful bond between mom and the Murphy sisters crumbles down. It tests their devotion to one another and they are forced them to evaluate what family means.
Readers have grown to love this family, and especially how they are able to face heartbreaks, their fears, and crisis all the way through and be resilient and strong ladies. Fans like how these books show the real meaning of family through these three generations of southern ladies. The novel evokes all kinds of emotions and feelings from the reader, and it is just refreshing, unique, hopeful, and charming.
