Kristy McCaffrey is a contemporary, historical fiction, and romance fiction author that is best known for the “Wings of the West” series of novels.
The author grew up in Scottsdale Arizona, where she used to frequently tell stories to herself. It helped her young mind process the banality of everyday life, while also giving her a feeling of control.
She also had an overwhelming compulsion to put stories on paper and still has several boxes of diaries in which she wrote her stories.
Kristy probably got her passion for reading from her mother who was a voracious reader. During her teenage years, she used to snatch all manner of novels from her nightstand even though she had a preference for fantasy and science fiction.
Some of the authors she read during this time include Roger Zelazny, Ann McCaffrey, Piers Anthony, and Marion Zimmer Bradley. She also fell in love with “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen and was fascinated by the turns and twists of “Wuthering Heights.”
But it was not until she was a married woman that she started reading romances. She used to walk to the town library and read all manner of bodice reapers and as such, it was not a surprise that she would later gravitate towards writing romances.
When Kristy McCaffrey went to college, she studied engineering, which is odd since no one in her family has ever worked in the sciences. Her mother is a teacher/glass artist and her father was an accountant.
However, McCaffrey liked math in high school since her teacher was always so animated about the relationship between the world around us and math.
Moreover, she had always wanted to make her father proud to have an independent daughter working a good job. Engineers get paid some good salaries and she was sure to get a good start in life.
But once she graduated, she did not work as an engineer except for the internship she did at Motorola. In fact, the most she was ever involved in engineering was when she was at the University of Pittsburgh and had to write her master’s thesis.
When Kristy McCaffrey got married, her husband suggested that one of them had to stay back home and take care of the kids. While they had not decided who it was that would stay, she jumped at the chance.
However, she soon got afraid that her brain would rot if she did not keep working it. She wanted to do some writing rather than engineering and began writing her first manuscript at a time when she had four children all under five.
Just like many authors, she had many starts, stops, and rewrites but eventually managed to publish “The Wren,” her debut novel in 2014. She has since written many more novels since then and now has more than a dozen works to his name.
These include several series, single-standing titles, novellas, and contributions to series. She is also very much involved in continuing to learn the art of writing, promotion, and marketing her own books.
“The Wren” by Kristy McCaffrey is a sensuous western romance set in 1877 Texas.
At the opening of the novel, It has been a decade since Molly experienced the biggest tragedy of her life as her family’s farm was attacked her parents were murdered while she was kidnapped.
She is now a nineteen-year-old back home in North Texas following a childhood spent with the Kwahadi Comanche tribe.
She returns to find her home coated in dust as it had been deserted for years. In the compound is the gravesite where she is supposedly buried and a man she never thought she would ever get to see again.
A restless wind had pushed Matt Ryan to the broken down and desolate remains of the Hart Ranch. It was not that long ago since he recovered from an ordeal that almost killed him.
He has lost the drive for all fairness and truth and seems to lack a purpose in life. For almost a decade he had been a Texas Ranger and also served in the U.S. Army as he sought justice for the murder of a little girl but could not find any healing and closure.
When he goes back to the ranch he is shocked to find a woman who has the same features as the child he could never forget.
Kristy McCaffrey’s novel “The Dove” is a compelling historical romance set in New Mexico Territory in 1877.
Claire Waters had been reunited with Logan Ryan outside the White Dove Saloon. She is pretending to be a fancy girl and letting Logan believe the worst.
The latter was disappointed when he found Claire Waters stranded in the middle of the Santa Fe Trail town. The gentle and fancy girl has been replaced by a working girl who seems a load of trouble despite her enticing curves.
They are soon entangled with dangerous and desperate men which gets Logan very protective. But he is unaware that it is his own past that is the greatest threat to Claire.
Claire is shocked when Logan who was passing by finds her dressed as a prostitute on the stairs of The White Dove Saloon. She had been plagued by shame for years and will not correct his impression of her.
But she is forced to accept his help since she cannot find her mother and the fancy girls are all leaving. She embarks on a journey that is certain to change her life forever but opening her heart to Logan may be one of the most dangerous things she has ever had to do.
“The Sparrow” by Kristy McCaffrey is a novel set in the Arizona Territory in 1877, where Amma Hart is braving the sudden appearance of Nathan Blackmore the Texas Ranger.
Emma Hart came to the rugged and wild Grand Canyon to search for answers to the dark past that is filled with tragedy, an elusive future, and the betrayal of the present.
Joined by Sparrow her power animal, she ventures into the depths of Hopi folklore as she confronts an evil that has been around for ages.
Nathan Blackmore the Texas Ranger tracks her down to the Colorado River. He is shocked to find a determined woman that will do anything to find answers.
But in a place where there are all manner of dangers, he has to choose between diving into the world he left years in the past, or risk losing Emma who he now loves more than life.
