Early Life

Kimberley Chambers was born in 1967 to Val and Tom Chambers. On her website, the bestselling author states that, “My father and mother are both dead. One of my greatest regrets is that I wasn’t able to do something to make them proud of me while they were alive. Her family oriented from the East-End of London, but the author was raised in Dagenham.

Chambers was an extremely smart and gifted student in primary and secondary school. Her best subject was English. For reasons unknown, Chambers grades began to plummet. When she was eleven, she states that “things began to deteriorate.” After a few years, her academic life became so stark that she decided to leave her secondary school.

After she left school, Chambers worked on Roman-Road-market in east London. Chambers enjoyed her job and felt like she had a future in sales. After a while, she became dissatisfied with changes that were occurring in the market. She left her job and began an new career in DJ-ing. On her website, Chambers states that she also enjoyed DJ-ing because she, “loved both alcohol and music.”

At age 30, Chambers left her career as a DJ and decided to become a mini-cab driver, a move that pleased her mother. In 2009, Chambers found herself sitting in her mini-cab waiting to pick up a fare. As she waited, she began to wonder where her life was going.

It was then that she received a phone-call from her friend Hazel, who asked if she wanted to take a hair dressing course. It was then that Chambers decided to try her hand at writing a novel. A few days later, she began writing her premiere novel Billie Jo. When she told her family about her new aspirations, they believed that it was a fad and that she would grow tired of this new venture as well.

When Kimberley Chambers began writing, she new in her gut that this was not a fly by night fantasy like many of her other jobs. On her website in reference to writing Billie Jo, “I remember that from chapter 4 and onwards, the writing process was really easy.

It was then I knew that I’d finally found my vocation in life. I mad very little notes, other than some character names. After I finished each chapter, the next came easy.” With the encouragement of friends, Chambers bought a copy of the Writers and Artists Year Book and scrolled through the list of agents.

She sent the first few chapters out and within 24 hours received her first phone call. Over the next few weeks, she received 4 more calls. The only thing left to do at that point was to pick a publisher.

Thanks to Martina Cole, Jessie Keane and Kerry Barnes, I found Kimberley Chambers. I’ve just finished her third novel THE BETRAYER and while I completely loved BILLIE JO & BORN EVIL, I found THE BETRAYER incredibly brilliant. Totally gripped from page one and the drama never stops from page to page. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the
    Mitchells & O’Haras trilogy.
