Kevin Ikenberry
Kevin Ikenberry’s head has been in the clouds ever since he was old enough to read. If you ask him, he will tell you that he still wants to become an astronaut. With more than twenty-five years of experience in space science education, which includes managing the US Space Camp program and serving as an executive of two Challenger Learning Centers, he works with space each day.
Kevin, a retired Army space operations officer, lives in Colorado with his family. And his home is seldom a boring place.
“Runs in the Family” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2014. Mairin Shields, an outcast of the Eden Academy, is physically unfit for military duty and lacks a civil service assignment. He is going nowhere fast. Without much hope of leaving the outer rim of the Milky Way, Mairin agrees to take part in this classified experiment that offers her genetic perfection and the chance to see the galaxy. Now, she is armed with her grandpa’s military knowledge and combat refined instincts, Mairin’s been tasked with leading some inexperienced troops in this war against this shadowy enemy which uses hauntingly familiar tactics.
However the first rule of the military is “Hurry Up and Wait”, and Mairin learns this firsthand. Without a transport to the fight, she spends the downtime on this lush paradise world, and gets to know her new body better, her heart and her imprint. She meets Tallenaara, this beautiful Styrahi architect whose past and mission is going to come and challenge them both. Faced with the toughest decision of her young life, Mairin can just watch while her world spins out of control.
“Super-Sync” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2019. An offer that they could not refuse, and a deal which would set them up for life.
Lew Armistead Holmes’ life was about to get so much better. Part of the Remant’s crew, she got a contract to head further into space than she’s ever been before, to get this satellite so large it’ll take two ships to bring it back. The payday’s just as large, and her share’s large enough to get her off the Remnant and away from her peculiar captain and all his secrets.
The captain of the other ship unfortunately harbors this grudge against the Remnant’s commanding officer from the previous time these two worked together on a project. But separately, they’re both like dynamite, ready to explode at any time. When they are together, it’s like lighting the fuse.
However the payoff on this unknown satellite is gigantic, leading both crews to wonder what the satellite even holds, and what they aren’t being told about it.
Each crew has to work together in order to bring this satellite back to Earth, however there’re plans within plans, and nobody’s really who the others believe they are. Who’ll return with the satellite by the end of this mission, and who’s not returning at all?
“Sleeper Protocol” is the first novel in the “Protocol War” series and was released in 2015. Just how far would you go in order to remember your past?
Kieran Roark wakes up in a wheelchair, not able to remember anything. As part of this classified experiment, he’ll need a year to recover his memory and learn his identity, or is he going to be euthanized by the state?
Scientist Berkeley Bennett has got a mission: manipulate Kieran’s emotions in this effort to bring his memory back. However she falls in love with him, forcing her to make this harrowing choice which might just cost Kieran his life.
What Kieran knows could actually save the Earth from the coming war. Whether or not he believes the future is actually worth saving is a whole other matter. Racing across this unfamiliar world in a body that he does not recall, Kieran has to learn who he was and far more importantly, who he truly is.
“Sleeper Protocol” was a Colorado Book Award Finalist.
“Vendetta Protocol” is the second novel in the “Protocol War” series and was released in 2017. Kieran Roark, who trains on Mars as a combat pilot, has gotten tantalizingly close to recalling the critical concept that he was brought back to lead. With the military establishment, including his instructors, against him, his success is hinging on finding the right ally, somebody that is willing to risk it all.
The Sleeper Program, some sixty million miles away, suffers this failure which is much worse than it originally appears. A troubled young woman, who is the second subject, attempts suicide. In the ensuing chaos, Kieran’s original protocol finds a way to manifest herself in a human body. Believing that Kieran is dead, Mally looks for everybody that Kieran loves with vengeance on her mind.
While this shadowy foe presses toward Earth yet again, the Terran Council orders the Sleeper Program to be terminated and sentences Kieran to death. The one and only person that’s capable of saving him is not actually a person at all.
“The Last Stand” is the first novel in the “Guardian Covenant” series and was released in 2022. A final chance to save the world.
The first asteroid was spotted headed right for Earth, and nobody thought too much about it. However then this second one was found, and then an entire string. Just one may have been chalked up to happenstance, however thirteen was enemy action.
However who was it that was responsible for them? With asteroids heading right for the US, Russia, and China, all of the nations who could have done it were unlikely to be the ones that actually caused the apocalypse headed for Earth.
It was awful once the asteroids started hitting the planet, devastating the areas that they fell on, however when the 35 meter tall monsters started climbing out of the impact craters, things soon got much much worse. And once they were found to be immune to most conventional weapons, it all went right into the toilet.
The alien hordes that dominate the sky and land, however, humanity did just what it does best: it created the Guardians, these massive mecha which were supposed to take the fight right to the aliens, and rushed them right into production. However with four whole continents about to fall, there was just a single question: would they even make any difference?
