Kevin G Summers is a bestselling and award-winning author best known for the novel “The Bleak December” that was nominated for the Dragon Award in 2017 and the novel “Legendarium.” He was also commissioned to write several short stories in the “Star Trek” franchise. “Isolation Ward 4” which he wrote made the shortlist for the Nebula Awards in 2002. Summers grew up in a household in northern Virginia where the folk heroes were authors. As a child, he remembers going along with his mother who was then a master’s student to George Mason University. He thus got interested in literature from very early on as he sat in on lectures by John Gardner and John Irving. Growing up, he fell in love with the works of the likes of Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, JRR Tolkien, John Steinbeck, and Thornton Wilder. When he was not reading the great works of these authors he could be found watching “Star Trek” or playing “Dungeons & Dragons.”
For as long as he can remember, Kevin Summers wanted to be an author. Listening to college professors at least once a week had sealed his fate by introducing him to interesting works of literature. She also had the chance to listen to literary luminaries and college students debate literature and loved everything about it. Once his mother was done with her lectures, she would take him to the local bar where the students and professors ate pizza and drank beer which made him think of them as the coolest people in the world. After tinkering around with writing for a few years, he got word that Pocket Books was having the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds contest. The rules of the contest were that one could submit their short story on the Star Trek universe if they had sold at least three fiction works. Pocket Books would pay cash for accepted stories that would then be published in an anthology. “Isolation Ward 4” which was his first contribution made the cut and came in third to subsequently be published in the “Strange New Worlds IV” collection. While he has many authors he looks up to, he has said that Kurt Vonnegut is his biggest inspiration and favorite author. He loves the author because most of his works are written in an unusual, direct, and simple voice as compared to the likes of Steinbeck or Hemingway. Moreover, he could also be somber and playful all at the same time.
Summers currently lives in Central Virginia on a farm in the outskirts of the small town of Amissville. His family raises chickens and dairy cows and when he is not involved in farm work, he can be found writing fantasy and science fiction. Once he had his first story published in “Strange New Worlds” he was off to the races and has never looked back since. He now has more than thirty works of fiction. One of the most interesting things about Kevin Summers is that he lives in a community of like-minded people. Most people in the community raise most of what they eat on a subsistence level. He has been writing since he was a child but it was not until 2011 that he decided to try his hand at nonfiction writing. He published “Surviving Off Off-Grid” that would become a very big success before he shifted gears and started writing fiction He is set to have one of Amish science fiction adventures adapted into a film.
Kevin G Summer’s “The Paradise Ledger Book 1” is the story of Joshua Webb a man that has been asking for the meaning of truth in his newspaper for nearly two decades. He owns and writes for “The Paradise Ledger” and has been called everything from anarchist to lunatic and madman. But he had the good fortune to stumble in a huge story that could decide the future of the United States. Boston Corbett is the source of the trouble as he is believed to have shot John Wilkes Booth. He has said that he knows the people responsible for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. If he is to be believed, he might pose a threat to Joshua Webb and some of the people he holds dear. Summers reopens the case into the bizarre circumstances surrounding the death of American president Abraham Lincoln and the subsequent assassination of John Wilkes Booth in a thrilling new historical fiction series. He takes one of the most iconic moments in American history to write a novel full of intrigue and suspense.
The second novel of “The Paradise Ledger” series by Kevin G Summers starts from where the first of the series left off. Boston Corbett and Joshua Web are on the run from the American military and are now heading to the small town of Paradise in Colorado. Corbett had assassinated John Wilkes Booth but is now back in Paradise, Colorado, and intends to reveal the truth about the assassination of Abe Lincoln. However, agents of the Cincinnati Society are working in the city and have kidnapped two of the most important women in his life; his lover and daughter who they are now holding captive. The two women had been taken by The Society of Cincinnati as they are believed to have access to some damning secrets about the society. Will Widow McLarty and Abby Webb be able to avoid the tragedy that had taken out one of the most beloved American presidents or will fate cause them tears? It is a long way back and it is doubtful if Webb can make it back in time to retrieve Corbett and the women he loves more than anything in the world.
Kevin G Summers’ third novel of “The Paradise Ledger” series is the story of Joshua Webb. Following the Washita Massacre, he had given up all manner of violence but now things have changed. He needs to take up arms and try to get his daughter back from The Society of the Cincinnati. Just how much will one man do to make sure that their child is out of the clutches of evil people? What does the future hold for Boston Corbett, the man that killed John Wilkes Booth? Summers writes a novel that grabs the reader right from the first page and never let’s go right to the end.
