Justinian Huang is a published American author.
Justinian was born to his parents in Monterey Park, California, both immigrants. He attended Pomona College, where he studied English, and the University of Oxford, where he studied screenwriting. The author says that he is proud to be born the child of immigrants, and his works also go into themes that are ultimately informed by how he was brought up, including reincarnation, past lives, and old beliefs with the realities of the modern day.
He lives in the Los Angeles area along with his Shanghainese rescue dog Swagger, a pup that he got while living in China for five years.
The author is proud that his books leap with human connection and love, and is happy that he can bring his post-romance literary world to readers without having to be forced into the genre’s demand for the traditional happily ever after!
Justinian invites his readers to come and enjoy his books, no matter who they are or what type of background that they have. He thinks that at the center of it all we are all a similar soul that is looking for self-love, and that is what is reflected in the characters. He tries to captivate and thrill the reader, putting plenty of twists, chemistry, and pleasures into his works.
Justin also served as a film studio exec before his new life as an author. He has been a part of the movies Abominable, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Over the Moon.
His debut fictional novel to hit the market is titled The Emperor and the Endless Palace.
The Emperor and the Endless Palace is the debut novel from author Justinian Huang. It was first released for readers to enjoy in 2024. Booklist called it a ‘sweeping triumph’ in the genre of queer romance. If you love historical fiction, fantasy, romance, or LGBTQIA+ fiction, then give this book a try! You might be pleasantly surprised and it’s also a good way to shake up your reading list with something new and fresh.
When it comes to love, it might actually be the thing that feels metaphysical recognition. This is the time when the soul is able to recall someone that they may have encountered in another life previous to the one that they have lived.
This romantic tale jumps across different timelines to describe the different adventures of love. Three different timelines of three different people are explored in this daring queer historical romance novel that goes to the far back past, the not so distant past, and the present time the reader and author both find themselves in.
One of the timelines takes place in the year 4 B.C.E., where a courtier with grand ambitions is called so that they can seduce a young emperor. They start to find out that both of them have something in common, which is that they are ruled by things like intrigue, sex, and blood.
Meanwhile, in the year 1740, an innkeeper without much to do agrees that he will help a visitor out with something they need. The visitor is very mysterious, and the innkeeper has no idea that he is about to help set off a terror from another world in its place.
Then the reader is taken to Los Angeles in the modern day. Here a student enrolled in college meets a stranger. They are quite attractive, but that’s not what’s getting to the student. The student is more struck by the sense that they have met this person before. Perhaps in another life?
In all of these timelines, things are woven together through the turns and twists that fate takes. It turns out that two men end up being reborn, born again after lifetime and after lifetime. Whether it is within an old palace and the forests of Asia to on the floors dancing at underground raves, the two are drawn to each other without a given reason and find if their love can endure when all of the world around them seems to be testing their connection.
Interesting and an entertaining read, this is a great pick for you if you are into queer fiction! Just be aware that when it comes to this book, it is slightly more than a romance and falls into the category of ‘erotica’. Adults eighteen and over only should consider reading this book!
