Justine Avery
Justine Avery was born in the American Midwest and raised all over the world. She’s inherently an explorer, excitedly noting the tales that abound all around, and she is duly fascinated by everything all around her.

Justine’s an avid reader of all genres, she weaves her stories among all of them. She has a predilection for writing speculative fiction and story surprises and twists even she cannot predict herself.

She was most inspired by the “meatier” or longer literary novels that she read when she was young. Novels like “Gone with the Wind”, “The Grapes of Wrath”, the “Iliad”, and “Odyssey”. She’s also inspired by huge collections of Sherlock Holmes stories, Agatha Christie, Shakespeare, Isaac Asimov, and Edgar Allan Poe. She was amazed by the unfolding drama, the level of detail, how a story could go on and on and not have any “boring parts”, how an author never ran out of ideas and the kinds of stories out there is infinite. She might be inspired by “variety” more than anything else.

When she discovers a new, great author, she is in awe of them however doesn’t necessarily read everything that they have everything they’ve written immediately, if ever. She turns to new-to-her authors constantly. She is inspired by variety in lives lived, perspectives, and lives imagined.

She never knows just how a story she’s working on will end, which is the fun of it for her. That’s why she writes. Every story is a mystery, an adventure, an experience just waiting to unfold. That is the whole appeal for her. If she doesn’t have any fun writing a story, she imagines that nobody else will like reading it. No outlines exist for her stories, they aren’t planned, rather they’re dreamed.

At most, she may get flooded with some ideas for a story while she is writing it, then have to keep up by jotting each of them down. She may even possibly need to put them all in chronological order so she can refer back to them later. However, she’s found she not happiest with even “fun ideas” in a little list to add into the story, as this is when creative writing becomes academic writing with a pre-determined end goal. This ends up sucking all of the real fun out of the experience.

Justine’s lived in or explored all fifty states in the union, in over 36 countries, and six continents. She lost count after she moved thirty-something times before she turned twenty.

Justine has intentionally jumped out off the highest bungee jump in New Zealand and out of airplanes, scuba dived unintentionally with sharks, intranets, designed websites and technical manuals, and welded automobile frames. She has also bartered with indigenous Panamanians, observed at the Bujinkan Hombu Dojo in Noba, Japan, and masterminded prosperous internet businesses. And that’s just naming a few adventures.

She got a Bachelor of Arts degree that life has never required. At the age of 28, she sold everything that she owned and quit corporate life, and her last “job”, to freelance and travel around the world while she always dreamed of. She has never looked back since.

Aside from speaking native English, Justine speaks a little Japanese, a little more Spanish, and her accent is an ever-evolving mixture of Midwestern American with notes of the Deep South and indiscriminate British rhythm and vocabulary. She says “eh” like the Kiwis, not Canadians. She lives between London and Los Angeles with her husband (British film director Devon Avery) and their adored kids. She writes from wherever the curiosity takes her.

Justine’s won the Bronze Award for Best Romance (Feathered Quill Book Awards), Official Selection for Romance (New Apple Summer E-Book Awards), and a Silver Award for Best Short Story (Feathered Quill Book Awards). She was also a finalist for Adult Fiction (The Wish Shelf Independent Book Awards.)

“The Post-It Note Affair” is a novellette and was released in the year 2015. Emily wants what every woman does: to have it all. Is this too much to ask?

Emily cannot complain too much. She is married to a wonderful man, her high school sweetheart that dotes on her like he did when he first laid eyes on her. They have a gorgeous home together, and each have successful careers. Emily, on the outside looking in, has what any woman would be happy with.

It just isn’t enough. Emily cannot help but wishing for a little more, that special spark, or the thrill of something surprising and new, for the shivering tingles running down her spine. For true romance, real passion. She never expects she’ll find it during the workday and surely not as a sticky note. It’s in her purse, and just says a few handwritten words. It’s the first of a slew of sexy surprises Emily couldn’t have anticipated no matter how hard she wished for.

Even while Emily eagerly anticipates and entirely savors every bit of the mystery and excitement of what might come, she can’t guess the roller coaster of emotions she will experience. She might never guess just who leads her on the romantic adventure she’s been dreaming of.

“The One Apart” is a stand alone novel and was released in the year 2018. Only a single obstacle stands in the way of his enjoying a normal life. He remembers every single life he’s lived previously.

Tres is about to be born. With the largest burden anyone’s ever had to bear. He is beginning again, as an ageless adult trapped in an infant’s body.

He and his teen mom face life filled with some extraordinary challenges while they try to nurture, protect, and hide just how really different he is. However, Tres alone has to solve the biggest mystery of all. Who is he? The answer’s linked to the question he is too afraid to ask. Why am I?

In his quest, Tres finds that all is considerably more interconnected and dynamic more than he could ever imagine, and it’s also fraught with far more danger. He can’t hide from the unseen threat that has been stalking him since his birth. Life as he knows it, as everyone knows it, is in peril. And Tres is the only one that’s aware.
