Jon Athan is the pseudonym of the bestselling horror fiction author from California. The author was born in 1992 in California on a very rainy day which is very much unusual in present-day California.
Growing up, Jon always loved writing, and when he was a kid he used to pen all manner of scary stories and spin-offs of movies and books.
As is the case with kids who love reading and writing, he often got into trouble with his teachers for doing these in class when he was supposed to be paying attention.
It resulted in many detentions, therapy sessions, and punishments but he persevered as he was convinced that he was going to be a fiction author.
Nonetheless, he never pursued a career in writing, literature, or education rather opting for Criminal Justice classes. Still, even though she pursued a course of study in a totally unrelated field, she never gave up her love for writing.
Soon after graduating, Jon Athan began writing fiction starting with short story collections. During this time, she penned anything from alien urban legends to zombie and ghost narratives.
As he got more comfortable with his skills, he began diving into longer prose and made his debut in long-form writing with the publishing of “Shattering Skies” in 2015.
He now has more than 100 short stories, more than 60 novels, and several novellas. After writing short stories for many years, Jon Athan for the most part now concentrates on long-form fiction.
Athan has said that he loves to write horror fiction since this is what he loves to read.
As for how he usually chooses what to write about next, he has said that it is all about sticking to one genre in this case extreme horror otherwise known as splutterpunk.
From time to time, he adds a little variety to keep things fresh and this has worked for him. Sometimes real-life events in his life such as his emotions inspire his novels. When he is feeling angry or depressed he will usually write some really dark stories.
Jon Athan sometimes pens movie reviews for a range of websites reviewing anything from horror to science fiction and drama. In fact, he had penned hundreds of reviews as he has made reviewing films into his side job and hobby.
He is also a lifelong gamer and likes to joke that one time he had an ultrasound in which he is pictured having a Sega Genesis controller.
Athan also loves anything to do with Korea and Japan, even though he has never been there. He has often said that he would at some point want to visit the Eastern Asian countries so that he can soak in the wonderful culture for himself.
However, as an author who has always had wanderlust, he has visited many other countries across the world.
Jon often interacts with his readers and fans through the newsletter on his site and on social media. He always asks for feedback as he believes it is this that will make him improve, correct his flaws and build upon his strengths.
“Mr. Snuff” by Jon Athan is an interesting novel that opens with a girl going missing.
Russell’s daughter had gone missing and after getting a distrubing phone call from the cops he had to watch as his daughter was murdered on video so that the cops could make a positive identity.
The killers began with small stabbings, then cuttings into her skin before she had her eyeball removed with a blunt instrument. Russell is furious and wants vengeance and starts investigating and soon finds the killers.
When he finds the first, he pulverizes his palm, smashes the cartilage, and splinters his nose. He buries another alive in a concrete mix after stuffing things down his throat which makes him suffocate.
Ultimately, he finds the place where his daughter was slaughtered and enters to horrifying scenes. There are rooms for depravity where kidnapped people are tortured on film.
He gets inside to find a necro who he shoots, spraying and splattering his blood over the walls after shooting his dick off.
He hacks the Achilles heel off of another and goes on a rampage not thinking once of self-preservation as he is all about purging evil and killing for vengeance.
Jon Athan’s novel “Ms. Vengeance” is the story of Misty, a woman that was sexually assaulted. The attack was so violent and left her traumatized that she is convinced to purchase a firearm to protect herself while she gets herself back on track.
One day she goes after a deviant and lecherous guy and without thinking she hits him with several bullets leaving his blood leaking as if from a mountain. She justifies the senseless killing as she is convinced that the man was bad.
Having tasted blood, Misty resorts to checking out the lists of sexual offenders in her area to find potential kills.
Since she knows that she cannot use a gun since it would be too loud, she stabs her victim in the back, pours boiling oil on the man, and bashes him on the face with a hot pan leaving.
Repeatedly bashing in his face which is still sizzling and bubbling, she leaves him spraying blood all over the carpet. For the next pervert, she cuts off his testicles and shoves them in his mouth.
But ultimately she hopes to find Mr. Snuff her attacker and take him out. But to do this she will need to enter the underground maze of hell where her life will be in great danger.
“Dr. Sadist” by Jon Athan is a work that follows Bradley Anderson, a man nicknamed Dr. Sadist.
The man is a master of torture who works as a director at a studio named “Deep Red Pictures,” which is owned by “Mr. Snuff,” an equally sadistic entrepreneur.
The money is good and as such Bradley owns a secluded and luxurious home where he resides with his family. But while he is a sadist he loves his family to bits and seems to have a conscience at the most inopportune times.
When he is hesitant when asked to kill a group of teenagers that had trespassed at Deep Red Pictures, he becomes targeted by his employees and his employer.
It is a brutal attack that destroys his life, even though he manages to survive and comes back stronger looking to exact vengeance.
It is work that brings you into a criminal underworld full of extreme violence, lust, and opportunity with cinematic qualities.
