Main character Eric Ross has completely uprooted from everything in his life. He’s running from his past and has his two daughters along with him. He has also left his house and his entire life along with his wife back in Maryland.
This means that he really needs money, but that’s quickly becoming a problem. It is tough to find work that is safe when you can’t come up with references, you know that you’re not going to be able to stay in one location for too long, and on top of that you feel paranoid that the past is coming back to get you.
Eric thinks that he may have finally been able to catch a break when he finds an ad for the Masson House in Degener, Texas. The property comes with a catch, however. It is known for being one of the most haunted houses in all of Texas.
Still, the house requires some type of caretaker. The owner wants to find proof that paranormal activity is going on in the house. The only thing that they have to do is stay there and then keep a record with details of everything that goes on there. It sounds like they should be able to do it, if the house’s energy doesn’t drive them all insane in the process.
Eric is called by this job. If they make it through all of it they’ll get a hefty amount of cash. But that’s not the only thing that’s calling him. He wants to find out what is going on with this spite house and dig up the secrets that it is holding.
If the house is actually haunted, Eric wonders whether it’ll be able to help him figure out the power that seems to be sticking to their family, the curse that appears to be compelling them to go from place to place and town to town.
This is a story about death and grief and how much a father loves his children. Check out this book if you are looking for a unique work that will send chills down your spine or if you just want to find out whether Eric can break the curse he thinks is on his family!
