John Hart is one of the popular novelists from America, who is famous for writing several successful novels based on the thriller, mystery, and literature & fiction genres. Before becoming a novelist, he used to work for a number of professions such as stockbroking, law, helicopter maintenance apprenticeship, and banking. Author Hart was born and brought up in North Carolina, which is also the place where the plots of most of his books are set. Due to his spectacular style of writing, his books are often compared to those of the prominent thriller authors such as John Grisham and Scott Turow. Among all the books written by author Hart, 4 have gone on to become New York Times bestsellers. He is also the only novelist to have won the Edgar Award for best novel for consecutive novels. Other than this, author Hart has also won other prestigious awards and honors such as the Barry Award, the Steel Dagger Award from Ian Flemming, the North Carolina Literature Award, and the Independent Bookseller’s Fiction Award. Author Hart has more than 2 million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into more than 30 foreign languages and sold all over the world.
The books written by him are available in as many as 70 countries of the world. Author Hart says that his only dream is to write well and get published as well. He was born in Durham, North Carolina, The United States, in the year 1965. His father was a surgeon while his mother used to work as a French teacher. His parents got divorced when he was very young, but he still maintains that he had a very peaceful and carefree childhood. The most cherished memory that author Hart recollects from his childhood days is a 50 acre farm near the city where he used to go along with his friends for adventures. After finishing his high school studies, he joined the Davidson College, which was a marvelous school at that time, according to him. At the college, he mainly studied French literature and lived in London and Paris for short duration. When he returned back to North Carolina after his graduation, author Hart stayed in Rowan County. It is the same place where he set the plots of his initial couple of novels. He had obtained graduate degrees in law and accounting, but both of them proved to be of no use to him.
Finally, he found his interest in writing and went on to continue with it as a full time author. When he used to work as a criminal defense attorney, stockbroker, and banker, he did not use to get enough time for writing his novels. Therefore, author Hart used to get up at 4 in the morning to make up for the lost time to be used for writing his books. He says that he always appreciated all those writers who did like this and still go on to function with their regular jobs during the daytime. Author Hart did not see any success with the release of his first 2 books and began to think that he lacked the necessary talent. Then, he left the law practice after his first child was born and began spending all his time at the public library in Rowan County in order to chase his dream of writing. And after spending a whole year over there, he tasted success with his first bestseller novel titled ‘The King of Lies’. He says that he has just three passions in his life, which are his writing, his family, and the protection of the open spaces. As of today, author Hart lives in Virginia along with his loving wife and a couple of daughters. Currently, he is working on the plot of his 6th novel, which will be available for reading in the market very soon.
One of the initial books written by author John Hart is titled as ‘The King of Lies’. It was released by the Minotaur Books in the year 2006. At the opening scene of the book, it is shown that Jackson Workman Pickens is trying to hold onto his disintegrating life. When his father named Ezra got disappeared mysteriously, he was left with only his law practice, which was on the verge of failing. He has a distant wife with whom he shares a loveless marriage, and a sister who seems to be estranged due to a childhood trauma from her childhood. And when the dead body of Ezra is discovered, Jackson becomes the prime suspect as he was about to inherit his fortune. But, his sister, Jean, was also playing the same role and she could have been the one to have murdered her father. On one hand, Jackson’s life was overshadowed by his father and on the other hand, Jean’s life was almost destroyed by Jackson. In order to find the truth, he decides to carry out his own investigation. Due to this, he comes across a power hungry detective, several damning evidences, and rumors that spread in his small hometown. In the end, Jackson seems to be desperate to achieve redemption from everything that has eluded till now. He also appears quite determined to clear his name of the murder charges and save his little sister.
One of the other books written by author John Hart is titled as ‘Down River’. It was also published by the Minotaur Books in the year 2007. The setting of the story of this book is done in North Carolina, The United States, and features the characters of Robin Alexander and Adam Case. As the story begins, Adam Case is depicted as having a violent streak due to a particular reason. He seems to have been traumatized by the things that he saw as a child. The wounds that he suffered as a little boy have cut him deeply and scarred him thin. Due to the trauma, he has turned into a misunderstood and passionate person, and a fighter. When he gets narrowly acquitted of a murder charge, he gets hounded out from his home. The exile of Adam comes for a sin that he does not seem to have committed. After that, he disappeared for 5 years and has now returned without the knowledge of nobody. However, he seems to have his own reasons. No sooner does he return to his hometown than he gets beaten and confronted by his family members and his lover. When no one is able to understand the reason behind his surprising return, Adam is left on his own. But, when several dead bodies are discovered, he begins to get embroiled once again. In the fight of his life, he is not only required to prove that he is innocent, but also reclaim his life, the only thing that he has ever wanted.

John Hart your books are the best I have read in a long time. Loved The Iron House and cannot wait for the 2022 book. I am a board member on our small town public library in What Cheer, Iowa. Sometimes I will make reference to a new author I have read and post on f/b for our avid readers. My favorite authors are Michael Connelly, C.J. Box, James Grappando and you.
I have read all your books. Finishing Last Child now. Dumb me . Didn’t know that The Hush should of been read first. Thought it was great even though most of the reviews were not good. I also love Preston and Child. Keep up the good work. Larry
