John Decker (Series by Anthony M. Strong)
Author Anthony M. Strong writes the “John Decker” series of supernatural adventure thriller novels. John Decker is a disgraced former cop. Even though these novels are part of a series, the books can still be read on their own.
During his childhood, Anthony dreamt of becoming an Egyptologist and he spent a lot of time reading about tombs and pyramids. But then he found dinosaurs and decided he wanted to become a paleontologist instead. Neither one of these careers panned out, but he was still left with this fascination for archaeology and monsters which serve him well in writing this series.
“What Vengeance Comes” is the first novel in the “John Decker” series and was released in 2015. Something horrifying has awakened in the bayou. This pair of moonshiners out on an illicit midnight delivery vanish, nobody pays too much attention to it. Until their truck’s discovered abandoned on this lonely back road, and not too far away, their mutilated corpses. The local cops are stumped and chalk it up to some wild animal. However the killer’s not finished.
Another attack soon follows. A couple of teens at this popular swimming hole. However this time around there’s a survivor, and she tells about this monstrous beast with sharp teeth and yellow eyes. It’s a monster that should not exist.
And now, with the townsfolk all up in arms and fearing even more deadly attacks, Sheriff John Decker is forced to hunt this impossible creature down and bring it down before it’s able to kill again. Because if he doesn’t, the next victim may just be somebody that he loves.
“Cold Sanctuary” is the second novel in the “John Decker” series and was released in 2016. In this secret lab that’s been abandoned for decades now, a horror from the past has stirred.
A man has been brutally murdered in a tunnel located deep beneath an Alaskan mountain. It’s the first in a series of grisly deaths. It is not too long before whispers grow about the Qalupalik, this frightening creature born from centuries of fear and superstition, has arrived to wreak havoc on the remote coastal settlement of Shackleton, Alaska.
However the town’s been hiding this dark secret, and the actual killer may be far more horrifying than any local legend. Because deep underneath the crumbling tower that was once owned by the military lies this long forgotten lab with a horrifying history of its own.
When this pair of thieves break in to plunder the lab, they discover more than they had bargained for, and unleash the past in ways that they could never have imagined. Now it is up to John Decker to do what nobody else possibly can. Stop a killer which should not even exist.
“Crimson Deep” is the third novel in the “John Decker” series and was released in 2020. John Decker finds himself facing a relentless foe.
Deep in the Florida woodlands, a couple of recreational divers get attacked and killed. Miles away, this research team captures this impossible sight on their remote operated submersible. A team of bank robbers, meanwhile, speeds toward their hideout in Florida.
While the deaths start to mount, John Decker gets called in from his much needed vacation by his longtime friend, in order to help the baffled police department track down this impossible enemy. Decker, who is thrust into one of the most dangerous situations of his life, has to combat not just a ruthless and savage killer but also a cadre of criminals without anything to lose.
And the stakes couldn’t be any higher, because if he should fail, it could lead not just to his own death, but also the death of the woman he loves.
“Grendel’s Labyrinth” is the fourth novel in the “John Decker” series and was released in 2020. A horrifying force unleashed on the Irish countryside.
Under this ruined monastery close to a quaint village of Clareconnell, this labyrinth of caves hides this dark secret. The remains of Grendel. After he was defeated by Beowulf, and then entombed there by the Danes, he’s been hiding there for a thousand years now, first being guarded by warriors, then by the monks, and lastly by the villagers themselves. However nothing will stay lost forever. A group of archaeologists are excavating the monastery and searching to find his grave. Because Grendel’s bones might hold the key to this medical breakthrough which could change the world.
John Decker, who’s just been recruited to CUSP, a shadowy organization, shows up in the Emerald Isle to recover these bones, he finds that there is more to this idyllic village than is meeting the eye. For Clareconnell has this shameful and dark past, and now that the caves have been opened up, the villagers will have to pay for their sins.
“Whitechapel Rising” is the fifth novel in the “John Decker” series and was released in 2020. This impossible killer is stalking the streets of London.
Jack the Ripper faded into history more than a century prior, with his identity getting lost to the ages. Until this work crew restoring a Mayfair home make quite the shocking find. This secret basement room that’s been walled up since Victorian times. The Whitechapel murderer’s lair. Inside, this corpse which has been waiting in silent darkness for more than a hundred years. However it’s not going to stay that way. The body goes missing, within just hours of the room’s discovery, and the murders start up again.
With such a violent killer on the loose and the body count rising, John Decker, who’s still new to CUSP, gets sent off to England, along with Colum O’Shea, a seasoned operative. Their mission is to stop a ruthless and relentless monster from gaining the only thing that will allow him to escape forever.
While the city is huddled in fear and the horror continues to mount, John finds he’s in a race against the clock in order to catch this hellish fiend much smarter than any other he’s ever faced before. Because if he does not, the death may hit just a little too close to his home.
