Jodi Taylor is one of the prominent authors from Bristol. The United Kingdom. She likes to write her novels based on the fantasy, fiction, and science fiction genres. Taylor is particularly famous for writing and publishing The Chronicles of St. Mary’s, which is one of the very successful historical novel series of the decade. She studied the works of many famous authors of her time and got the necessary inspiration from their successful works in order to come out with such an interesting novel series. While learning about the lives and works of the famous writers, Taylor paid special attention to their writing styles, character descriptions, and the overall flow of the plots of their books. This helped Taylor to understand the tips and tricks of writing a novel in an interesting manner so that it excites each and every reader who picks it up for reading and keep them intrigued till the very end. Some of those prominent and inspiring novelists include Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Jennifer Cruise, etc. Throughout her writing career, author Jodi Taylor has been considered a complete nut about the history genre. She has the knack of writing plots of the historical novels set during the time of the year 1485 and onwards. Usually, she is seen busy all the time with writing the plot descriptions of her novels, but it takes a great deal of effort to get her out of the bed in the morning. She also has a solution to this problem which lies in huge amounts of chocolate, for which, she will do everything. Once the chocolates help her to get out of the bed, she goes on continuously till the end of the day without feeling restless.
Taylor says that chocolates fill her with powerful energy and boost her confidence to keep developing her novels throughout the day. When it is raining, she decides to call the day off and enjoy the beautiful rainy day from the window of her house. Just like chocolates, rain also fills Taylor with refreshing energy and relaxes her mind and body. Whenever she is asked to talk about herself, Taylor usually found tongue-tied. However, she sometimes describes herself as witty and incredibly beautiful. She is tall and technically very proficient in her work. Taylor manages a personal blog by the name Cardiff Comic Con, through which she interacts with her readers and fans. She tries to solve their queries as much as possible and inform them about her latest works and their releasing dates. With the success of the novels of The Chronicles of St. Mary’s series, Taylor has been able to make a name for herself in the list of the prominent authors of the world at this time. She says the success of the novels of the series reflects the hard work and sheer dedication that she had to put in while working on the exciting plots of the novels. She received huge motivation from the success which encouraged her to write a few more novels in the series. Taylor has promised her fans that she is going to keep writing and publishing new novels throughout her life. She has even started to write books other than The Chronicles of St. Mary’s series and has successfully published a standalone novel.
The Chronicles of St. Mary’s series written by author Jodi Taylor consists of a total of 7 books, of which the first six have already been published between the years 2013 and 2015. The seventh novel of the series is about to be published early in the year 2016. All the novels of the series are set in a historical world and show the elements of time travel, friendship, and love. The first novel of the series was published in the year 2013 by the Accent Press publishing house. It was titled ‘Just One Damned Thing After Another’. The plot of the novel is set during the time of the eleventh century up to the period of the First World War in London. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, the St Mary’s Institute of Historical Research is described as ricocheting around the history of London. The staff members of the research institute are described as disaster magnets who are involved in documenting, observing, drinking tea, and avoiding the dangers of death at every point of their lives. The author has described a story based on the time travel, history, friendship, love, and tea.
The catastrophe-curve of the plot of the novel takes the readers from the 11th century London till the time of the World War I, and then from the Cretaceous Period up to the fall of the Great Library situated in Alexandria. Author Taylor has described the historical elements of the novel as the new sex. The innocuous facade of the research institute seems to be working on a different type of historical research. It appears that the institute is investigating the important events of history set in the contemporary time, which it does not consider as time travel. The staff members of the institute seem to find problems in trying to maintain the appearance of the harmless eccentrics of history as they tend to make loud explosions when the things become too quiet. Although, their aim is to observe and record the events in the history, they also try to find the answers to most of the unanswered questions of History. But, they have to deal with a number of deadly difficulties in the process. They are required to be extremely careful because if they make one wrong move, they are going to get fought back by the History, possibly to death. Soon, they discover that, it is not just History that they are fighting.
The second novel of the series was published under the title ‘A Symphony of Echoes’. It was published in the year 2013 by the Accent Press publishing house. The plot of this novel continues to follow the adventures of the tea-sodden historians of the St Mary’s Research Institute. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, the main character Max and her team visit the Victorian London through time travel in order to observe and document the elements of the rich history of that time. The research team of Max specifically tries to search the information related to Jack the Ripper, but instead they come across the murder of Archbishop Thomas, as the witnesses. Thomas is described as a Becket in the Canterbury Cathedral. Max and her team from the research institute also discover that the dodos make a certain grockling noise when they eat cucumber sandwiches.

The best series EVER. Funny, intriguing…Wonderful.
Superb!! I have not been hooked on a book or a series of books in a long time. In comes the St. Mary’s series… I’m completely hooked!! Thank you.
I’ve just finished reading ‘About Time ‘, and shed many tears because of the ‘Epilogue’ – of laughter. This is the most hilarious chapter of any book I have ever read. Thank you, Jodi. Now I’m going to read it again.
Unfortunately I have to regularly spend long periods of time in hospital. Fortunately I have all of you books on my kindle, and I re read them. They have helped be while away my stays, and as I always recommend your books to others on the ward, they have lifted the spirits of a few others also.
I know that authors often get so sick of their characters that they want to kill them off, but PLEASE do not do that to our beloved St Marys gang!!!
You have created a monster that we love
You make me laugh out loud
