Each and every novel of this series features the chief protagonist in the form of Beatrice Alexander. She lives an ordinary life as a schoolteacher. However, in reality, she is something completely different. Beatrice Alexander is actually a Telekinetic Special Agent, who fights against psychotic vampires, zombies, trolls, etc. The debut novel of this paranormal and urban fantasy series is entitled ‘Mind Over Monsters’. It was released by the Midnight Ink publishers in the year 2011. Author Harlow has described the main characters in this book as Beatrice Alexander, Don Juan, and several others. At the start of the book’s story, it is shown that Beatrice Alexander is not the ordinary schoolteacher that she appears to be. She is capable of moving objects with the help of her mind. However, she ends up feeling embarrassed whenever such a thing happens because she has not yet embraced or mastered this skill. On one occasion she nearly killed her own brother. Beatrice Alexander joins the F.R.E.A.K.S. Squad, which is the Federal Response to Extra Sensory & Kindred Supernaturals.

This top-secret government organization is commanded by the FBI and works to combat ghouls, ghosts, and other similar monsters that threaten the human population. After joining the Squad, Beatrice Alexander goes on to work on her very first case. She is joined by her teammates, among whom is handsome and charming former detective werewolf as well as an annoying and irritating Don Juan vampire, who always looks to seduce her. Beatrice comes to know about the discovery of dismembered bodies, which bear the bite marks of monstrous elements. It becomes clear that there is someone out there raising a group of bloodthirsty, hideous zombies. Beatrice Alexander encounters and the master of the bloodthirsty zombies and fights against him with the help of her trusty machete called Bette. In the end, Beatrice successful in defeating the master and finishing all the zombies once and for all. In the process of doing so, Beatrice also uncovers the horrifying secrets that the monstrous master was guarding. Overall, the book describes a monster hunting team, who possess unique paranormal abilities. The plot seems to combine the elements of suspense, supernatural crime fighting, and humor quite well.

Another interesting book of this series is called ‘The Sin Eater’. It was released by the Devil Left Books publication in the year 2017. Author Harlow has set the plot of this book in North Carolina and San Diego, and has introduced the chief characters as Connor McInnis and Beatrice Alexander. At the beginning of the story of the book, it is depicted that a Special Agent from F.R.E.A.K.S finds himself pretty much useless when all his dreams and hopes die in from of him literally. The same fate experienced by Beatrice Alexander. At one point in her life, she used to have great paranormal abilities and used to fly throughout the country in private jets, fighting against the monstrous threats and saving the innocent human lives. But now, she is left with nothing but the choice of living in the house of her grandmother, drinking without any limit, and playing video games. Beatrice Alexander seems to have become totally directionless. She hides from her trauma and her personal problems. It turns out that the reason behind her sorry state is a fateful incident in North Carolina around 3 months ago, which had gone bad. Now, Beatrice hopes to come across any form of distraction so that she could get over the memory of the fateful night and move ahead in life. Later, Beatrice Alexander finds herself getting attracted towards the sexy and powerful San Diego ruler named Lord Connor McInnis. Soon, she loses herself in the luxury and passion of the world of vampires. After some time, Beatrice gets entangled in the web of a centuries old rivalry among the vampires. The vulnerable situation makes her wonder at what lengths she is ready to go for the ones she loves and for saving herself from the vampires.
