James Carlos Blake is one of the most original American writers, who has done excellent work in his writing career. He was born on 26th May 1947 in Tampico, Mexico, which is a third generation Mexican descendant from America, English and the Irish ancestors. He was the son to Estrella Maria Lozano Cano and Carlos Sebastian Blake Hernandez, who was a civil engineer. Due to his great work, he has been able to receive an extensive critical favor and several notable awards. He has also been called as one of the greatest chroniclers of the mythical American outlaw life. Blake has written about his boyhood in a memoir essay that was known as “The Outsider”. Besides this, he has also discussed about his personal life and profile in the “Texas Monthly”.

James Carlos Blake attended the St. Joseph’s Academy in Brownsville, Texas, where he got his elementary education. He later joined a high school situated in Miami, Florida. He also attended the University of South Florida, Tampa Bay and the Bowling Green State University, where he got his BA and MA degrees and an MFA degree respectively. He attended the university after being in service in the U.S. Army Airborne. He also worked as a snake-catcher county jail properties officer, swimming pool attendance and a Volkswagen mechanic. Despite these several works, his main occupation was a college instructor. This is the reason why he managed to get the chance to teach in Bowling Green State University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, Miami Dade College, University of South Florida and Florida Southwest State College. During this time of teaching, he had started writing, but did it on part time until 1997, when he decided to quit teaching for a full time writing career.

His pioneer book as an author was written in 1987. This was a short story that was entitled “Aliens in the Garden”. Later in 1988, he wrote his second book that was another short story, which he entitled “The House of Esperanza”. After this, he continued to write more books that have been read world-wide. Some of his latest work has been published recently in 2015. Some of his earlier books are the “In the Rogue Blood” and the “Country of the Bad Wolfes” that were published in 1997 and 2012 respectively.

In the Rogue Blood

This is one of the distinct work that has been done by James Carlos Blake. The book was written in 1997 and has about 352 pages. The protagonist characters in the book are two brothers known as John Little and Edward Little. They were born by a very cruel and homicidal father, who could not be trusted. The mother is described to be whores. Life was not that so fair on their side based on the facts that the parents were not that friendly. They were sent away from home in the Florida swamplands in order to hustle on their own despite their tender ages. Having no choice in life, they had to face life through hustling in the swelling ranks of the rootless as they wandered west across a southern landscape. Out there, they find life quite unbearable and due to circumstances in the corrupt and sordid Dixie City and death, they finally ended separating from one another. One of them has to fall in the scalphunters bound for the Mexican badlands, while the other brother is forced to join the army in order to escape the law. After the death of their father, they experience more suffering as before. This is because they are now serious violent episodes, relentless nights that are haunted by the taunting ghostly memories. Despite being very far from each other, they remain tired by blood and the two brothers are determined to get back together. They are on opposing sides in a fierce struggle that is happening between the United States and Mexico. This is something that makes it quite tricky for the two brothers to get in touch, but with determination and love, they believe that each one of them has to come to an individual reckoning with his own rogue blood.

This is just, but a small summary of the book that gives you an overview of the happenings in the book. You can get to read the whole story by getting a copy of the book online or nearest library.

Country of Bad Wolfes

This is another smart book that was written by James Carlos Blake in 2012 and has got about 368 pages. It is a narrative of family saga, in the vein of the Peter Matthiesen’s trilogy, Killing Mr. Watson, Lost Man’s River, and Bone by Bone, continues James Carlos Blake’s attention to the intertwining of crime and violence and the dynamic of family and national histories. The book is about the story of the Wolfes family. In 1828 in the New Hampshire, we find that the Wolfes family decided to follow its manifest destiny into a war torn Mexico. Edward Little, who is a mysterious American aids them by intertwining with those of the Porfirio Diaz. Diaz has been ruling the country until 1910 when he was overthrown by the revolution after being in power for more than thirty years. During his time in power, the Wolfes grew richer and were even able to forge a violent history of their own. Through this, they were able to spawn a fearless legacy that can be used to pursue them to a climatic reckoning at the Rio Grande.

The story, therefore, covers all that you could expect from a family scene during the late 18th century into the early 20th century. These include; murder, rape, robbery, politics in spades marriages and death. We also find out how Roger Blake Wolfe’s twin sons, who were so close live the years apart without knowing what the other is doing and how fate brings the families together.

This is just a small summary of this interesting book. To find more about what happened in the book, then you need to go online and find your copy today. Besides this, you will also find a copy of the book at the local bookshop or libraries. This is a must read book that you will definitely love.
