The debut novel is this series was published under the title ‘Shadow’s Edge’. This book was published by the Montlake Romance publishers in the year 2012. The story of the novel is set around the primary characters named Leander McLoughlin and Jenna Moore. The plot of the book starts with the introduction of Leander McLoughlin as the Ikati leader, a tribe of savage and beautiful shapeshifters. These shapeshifters live in the England forests by hiding in them. The existence of the Itaki tribe is believed to be a secret. Jenna Moore tries to expose the secret, but Leander captures her by tracking her down in Southern California. During the fight with her, he begins to fall for her beauty. Jenna is believed to be fighting against the Itaki race since her childhood, and has lost her parents in the process. However, she is not really alone as she possesses some superhuman and strange abilities. When Leander approaches her with a solution to all her questions, she does not believe him. However, she too begins to fall in love with him.

The main story of the book revolves around the romantic relationship between the main characters named Morgan and Xander, who are depicted as sharing a sensual and passionate love affair between them. When the plot of this book begins, it is depicted that another world exists which seems to be beyond the one known to us and is believed to be full of well guarded secrets and ancient magic. This different world also consists of strict and difficult laws and very harsh punishments for the ones who do not follow them properly and sincerely. Also, the new world seems to be inhabited by the people of the Ikati race, who are known for their gifted talents. Because of their powerful gifts, they appear to be more than what they simply look to be. Two people, who have their own difficulties and dark pasts, will be brought together to this beautiful and dangerous world because of their fates. When they meet with each other, they come across several other exciting experiences in their lives. One among them is called Morgan, who is smart, beautiful, and sexy, and appears as if she is going to die very soon. She is caught by the people of the Ikati race on the charges of committing treason against her kin, who is described as being a shapeshifter.
As a form of punishment and only chance for redemption, Morgan is ordered to discover the secret plans of the enemies, who seem to be hell bent on killing each and every person of her race, or lose her life for her treason act. The other main character described in the book is known as Xander, who is depicted as a heartless, ruthless, and a cold blooded man. He is assigned the task of killing Morgan if she does not succeed in completing her task. Xander is expected to feel nothing more than contempt for Morgan while keeping a watch on her. He keeps accompanying her wherever she goes with the intention of fulfilling the given task. But, as Xander and Morgan move through Italy, they get attracted towards each other. Xander realizes that he is getting drawn into a web of dangerous desires, which are very much powerful and forbidden for him. Shortly after, both of them begin to think that their passion is going to test each and everything that they believe in and will endanger their lives as the future of their tribe. In the end, the book appears to be an action packed, edgy, and sensual story, which author Geissinger believes to be a must for every reader who likes to read dark paranormal romance books.
